This was a perfectly good old F250 until some drunk SOB ran into it at full steam a block up from my work the other night, knocking it back and onto the curb. It also knocked the Infiniti behind it, a customer car left for my buddy’s shop, into the street, which was then impounded for no apparent reason and taken to the shadiest tow company yard in town. No good reason has been given for its impound, just that the tow company said it needed to be impounded. Meanwhile, this sits on the street, undisturbed. Shakedown, anyone?  Don’t drink and drive, and also fight back against bullshit tow yards.

Towing companies are the worst. A few years back my brother worked as a driver for one and said they were always pulling illegal shit. He finally had enough, blew the whistle on them and quit.

There’s one tow company I trust around here (out of several that I have to deal with) and they’ve always been great, but this one has been known to be shady as hell within the industry for as long as I can remember. Predatory towing.

It’s all a mater of money to the tow yard. They probably saw Infiniti and assumed the owner of said vehicle would have the money to pay. The owner of that F250? Unlikely.

Not that this makes it right at all, just saying this was probably their thought process.

Back around 15 years ago my mom got hit in about the same place as this truck by a woman who ran a red light in a big ass truck because she was on her phone. They towed my moms explorer to an extremely shady tow yard. My stepdad picked her up from the hospital and went straight there to get everything of value from out/on it (wheels, stereo, etc). They both worked in the tow/repo business and knew this place had a history of nice things going missing. They worked with the local police so they never got investigated.

Man, that’s the worst. I haven’t heard of chop shop practices about these guys, but definitely about predatory tactics. Once they found out the car was for the shop and not just some stiff’s they said they’d bring it back. Assholes.

That was my thought as well, making assumptions on likelihood of payment based on vehicle.

Dude, fuck drunk driver and duck shady tow companies. There is no reason to have impounded that.

Yeah, it was a good truck. One of the first Fords in my life was an ‘82 F150, I like these things.

Out of all the trucks my Dad’s owned, the ‘84 Bronco is still my favorite.
