Kinja'd!!!

While I was pondering how to justify a 13 hour drive to pick up With Great Powers 5.0 R.Spec I had a light bulb go off in my head.

Do you think that eventually the 4.6 and 5.0 Genesis will be looked at as fondly as the old Crown Vics? They both have reliable V8s, lots of space and while there certainly is less of the Hyundai’s out there and they are more expensive, I think they will eventually be the go to replacement for when it becomes hard to find a not trashed panther.

Nah, as much as a hate the Panther, it’s a much more reliable car. Along with being more reliable, it’s cheaper and easier to fix.

On the other hand, the Genesis is a nicer car. And a better car in every other way. Two completely different ideas.

No, because they made far less of them, won’t be as reliable, and parts won’t be dirt cheap.

Nobody’s ever going to slow down because they saw a black Genesis in their rearview.

Nah, these are more for catching the Chrysler 300 crowd that doesn’t want to buy a Chrysler 300.

No. I refuse to accept the idea that I just got the equivalent of a crown Vic.

Didn’t the 5.0 R-Spec have a grenade-worthy issue in its engine?

I bought my Town Car because limo companies put 200-300k miles on them and they just keep running. The cars are simple with little in the way of fancy stuff that will just break. Although, 239hp is kinda lame in a 4,300lb yacht...

I think it’s the next Infiniti Q45. A neat feature laden simple design that gets sorta held back by low production numbers. A fine automobile that is rewarding in many ways but will bite you when it comes to repairs and general parts availability.

Nope. Crown Vics are either for doing dumb stuff as a teenager, or for parking at the retirement home for 5 nights a week (the other two are church night and bingo night). The Genesis will continue to be for someone middle-aged who wants a reliable, luxurious vehicle without paying that Lexus premium. Crown Vic owners are either too young to see or enjoy the appeal of a Genesis sedan (I want brakestands and I want them now), or too old to accept the thought of driving a Korean car. I don’t really see this changing within the next few years, and the teenagers will just move on to 300Cs and Chargers when they get cheap enough.

This is perhaps the best argument I’ve ever heard for the Vic. And I like Panthers.

13 hours?! Psh, not only would I be happy to meet you half way, it would only take you 4 hours to get back at ludicrous speed!

Same goes for the new Taurus and refreshed Explorer. If I see a black one, oh goodness .

I would love to, your car seems like a great deal. Unfortunately, finances being finances, I couldn’t justify even your low price.
