It was on cable a bunch in the late 80's. I like the blues more than any other kind of music, so I watched it whenever I saw it on, even though it’s not a great movie.

Ralph did actually learn to play guitar for the movie, although I couldn’t say if he did all of the guitar playing (likely not).

I was in high school when that came out, my guitarist friends and I would cue up that scene just to watch Steve Vai play guitar.

Crossroads! I love that movie! And that scene especially. Obviously, Macchio isn’t actually playing. While he was taught how to mime along as best he could, the recording is actually of Ry Cooder.
