Kinja'd!!!

Just got tickets to go see my favorite band at Gillette on May 19th. First proper concert and I am going big, General Admission floor tickets to my favorite band of all time! Sadly the MA show missed out on having Avenged Sevenfold as the guest but whatever, I’m finally going to see Metallica!

In other news I am also going to see my second favorite band, Iron Maiden in July wth Ghost as the guest.

This summer is going to be awesome.

Very cool... it should be an epic time.

Gillette is a massive pain in the ass, though. Plan on arriving very early to get through the jams, and plan on hanging around the parking lot for many hours before even attempting to leave.

I didn’t want to deal with all that (and the expense of parking), and got a tip from a regular attendee that free parking is available nearby the Foxboro Police if you are willing to walk. Getting into the stadium on foot is a challenge, as the guards do not permit foot traffic through the VIP entrance, but there are other ways around that. Also, driving out of the Foxboro village can avoid the bulk of the stadium traffic if you are clever.

Damn Im jealous. I missed Iron Maiden at a festival last year due to a severe migraine and ghost cancelled the same festival. My luck... Are Gojira and Volbeat playing the date you see Metallica? Seen volbeat live and they were great, yet to see gojira but magma was a fucking amazing album.

Saw them live in 1997. Great show.

That was 20 years ago. Jesus. I feel old now.

They still do tons of shows every year but most of them are overseas.

I am fully expecting traffic and parking to be a massive pain.

Saw them in ‘94 in Cincinnati and 1/1/00 in Cleveland. First show was with Suicidal Tendencies and Danzig, second with Sevendust and Kid Rock (ugh...).

At the Cleveland show, I’d say the crowd was 50% Kid Rock fans who wanted to see what this other band they’d heard of was about. From the couple in front of us:

guy: “I’ve heard this song before, I think. What’s it called?”
girl: “One.”

Volbeat would be awesome to see...enjoy the show!

I met up with friends there who had the right idea. They brought food and drinks and just tailgated for a few hours after the concert. Don’t even attempt to go anywhere.

If you go into it expecting that, it might actually be fun.
