My wife and I had the best conversation last night; she was worried I would be disappointed if she didn’t do a whole bunch of stuff she didn’t feel was particularly necessary for today...on account of her feelings that its just some random say we’re told to buy junk and it stresses people out. I told her the greatest gift she could give me for Valentines day is complete and utter disregard for the unnecessary ceremony of arbitrary romance day. I think we are both much happier not stressing out it. I’ll get her a little something and Im taking her out later this week and tonight we’re having heart pizza with the kids but thats it. Best Valentines day ever.

Married trick: Find something that you (and/or she) really want, then just wait until the nearest holiday occasion to buy it “for that holiday.” This year it was an Apple Watch which has been a big hit. Then she turned around and got me some workout gear which, had I given it to her, would have resulted in divorce papers. Double standard on workout gear, guys.

What in God’s name does someone need north of 2000HP?! It’s not even a cigarette boat. Also, that’s kind of awesome that you can basically LS swap a boat considering Seven Marine uses GMs LSA engine block!

7 Marine engines are sick. They’ve been around for quite a few years now, and still nothing quite matches them. Nor their price. BUT when you look at power-to-weight, you can get away with 2 of these instead of 3 of a competitive Mercury or other big outboard.
They also use an inboard-style transmission rather than a traditional outboard system. This makes them smooth and quiet going in and out of gear, unlike nearly all other outboards which - by design, mind you - go ca-ca-ca CHUNK into gear. If you’re used to outboards always making that sound, it’s amazing when you hear one of these slip into gear (you don’t hear it or feel it, is the point).
Those things are an engineering masterpiece.

Tonight, I’m just making my wife a nice dinner after the kids are in bed. Which of course benefits me, because I get to eat it too. Maybe some wine as well... As much as I’m completely against this manufactured holiday, I guess the result is a reason to have a nice meal on a weeknight, rather than scarfing down re-heated leftovers as per usual.

Yep, the boat in the summer is one of my favorite things, at night especially. But really, any time. My kids are just starting to get into it, and I’m sure it won’t be long before they’ll be asking to take the boat themselves.

I love boats like that. Hold onto it, they literally don’t make them like they used to. I don’t mean quality, but layout. Every 14'-18' aluminum outboard is set up only for fishing. You don’t get a walk-through windshield and nice seats for 4-6 people like you used to, that segment is nonexistent.
