Yes, that pink area is a Tornado Warning, yes, that pink area is pointed towards me, yes, the neighborhood three miles to the south was just specifically mentioned by the meteorologist on the news and that their residents should take this system “extremely seriously”.
So I’m a moron. Decided to go ahead and drive to work. Wife called me halfway and said there was a tornado touchdown near me. I immediately pulled into the Sugar Land Regional Airport (a damn nice place with a lot of damn nice private jets), parked under the overhang at the front of their little public terminal, and ran inside. Their power went out 10 seconds later, generators kicked in, and the wind kicked into “HOLY SHIT” mode. That lasted for about ten minutes.
Bonus: The airport has a Starbucks. Cinnamon Dolce soothed my ego.
