!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Well my 60D came in the mail and it looks brand new out of the box. Along with an extra battery, the stock lens, and the lenses I have this will be a good setup for the time being. I mean look how clean it is!

Rock on. Does the 60D still have the magnesium body? It adds a bit of weight, but it makes the camera really feel good in the hand. That’s why I’ve never been crazy about the Rebel line. It’s just too tight in the hand, and the ergonomics aren’t as good. I’ve never shot with Nikon, but I really like the way the Canons are laid out. Now go out and take some pictures!

“Smaller and lighter polycarbonate resin with glass fibre on aluminium chassis”

No, but it definatley doesn’t feel as light and the Rebels, which I agree feel chintzy. Plus with some slight advantages over the T3i, it made more sense to me. I am a Canon guy, so Nikon isn’t even on my radar.

10/10 will do asap

I like the magnesium, but a day of shooting with the 50D and a big 70-200 is a real workout.

The 60D feels more robust than the Rebels, but lighter than my old 40D

This actually the camera I’ve been thinking of upgrading to from my (Well, my mom’s) T1i. They are pretty well priced at the moment and seem a lot more capable than the Rebel. My friend had one and along with some of the lenses he had he took some amazing shots. I’d really love a new 6D or used 5D but it’s hard to justify so much money on a hobby.

However It’s also time to start thinking about upgrading to a newer car as well. And every penny counts towards that. Anyway, let us know how you like it and show us some pictures!

Good choice. I still use my 60d as my second camera for a load of things, and its such a capable piece of equipment. have fun!

Yeah I am excited about it. A full frame would be lovely, but yeah they are pricey and I can understand saving for a new car.

I have a 6D and occasionally use a 60D. The 60D would be plenty for every day use. It’s just not as usable in darkness. The 6D is a monster in the dark when you have a lens that goes to f/1.8. I’ve taken a few pictures in almost dark and they’re quite viewable with minimal noise. Although that’s not really a common scenario so a 60D is a good value for money in my opinion. The 60D does also have a lot more focus spots so there’s that too.

I actually do have a 1.8 lens (50mm) but at night I am so limited by the T1i it’s a little ridiculous. I’ve actually begun thinking if I’m getting a new camera for the long term I should pony up and get a full frame. I’m thinking either a used 5D Mark II or 6D. I would have to replace two of my lenses, however they are pretty worthless anyway. Just a thought though. The two things holding me back are money and a 60D would probably be just enough for me anyway...

That’s a valid point. The 60D is a good all around camera and should be great for general purpose use. The only reason I went with a 6D is because I liked the way it captures light better and the ergonomics worked better for me. If you do end up deciding between a used 5d2 or a 6D I would recommend a used 6D. The 6D is almost like a rebodied 5d2 based on what I’ve read.
