Birthday present from my father, guess I need M badges on my 535i. I did tell him I needed a new mouse.

You didn’t already have an M badge on your 535i?

No but I have thought of finding an 80s style TURBO badge for it, I mean it does have a turbo why not advertise it? What is wrong with car makers these days.

Pretty sure pep boys or autozone sells stick on lettering, you can fix the omission of a turbo badge in like 5 minutes!

Like this guy did with his 545i, had to let the world know he got the SMG:

Oh hell, if you’re going vintage turbo badges, it doesn’t get better than the one from the SAAB 99.

But...but...//M badges add horsepower, right? Right??

Broadcasting “SMG”...incomprehensible. Like advertising “CVT” or “Now with 20% less horsepower” or something. “HPFP Inside” lol

Do you think I oughta get a 323i badge for the M3 ‘vert? Reverse psychology haha

This is too perfect. “Frequently spotted together”

Seriously, that’s some FP level irony...or BMW CCA Roundel reader submission...somebody doing a writeup on SMGs would probably really like to get hold of an image like that.

Seriously, if you read the Roundel I bet Mike Miller would enjoy a copy of that pic!

I haven’t been reading roundel cause they got sent to my old address in TX and I forgot to update it with BMW CCA.

Damn, you really like BMWs. I didn’t realize you had so many. Also, you might be brave for owing a 90s V12 BMW.

Yeah, I may have a problem...

Truthfully, since about 2002 they’ve had less and less appeal with each new model, given BMW AG’s (seeming) altered product direction/philosophy. If Chris Bangle and I ever are introduced, he’s getting a huge handshake from me! And a big thank you for the huge amounts of $$ he saved me

Up to this point the M70 has been very reliable, only needed replacement of normal wear items — usually much later than anyone would’ve reasonably expected. It’s impossible to say enough good things about it. imo they really beasted with that engine/car :)

So far, anyway *crosses fingers*

Ironically, I think once Chris Bangle left I started liking them less. I wasn’t a fan of the E90 when it came out, but when they released the facelift in 2009, it has become one of my favorite. So much in fact that honestly, I’m probably going to buy another one. I know you’ve got a pre-LCI E90, and my feelings on that car are mixed, one day I like them the next I don’t. I will admit, the pre-LCI E90 had a much better color selection.

I guess I’ve only heard about people having huge problems with them, not the other way around.

I share the enthusiasm for E90s! esp. given they’re the last 3er available with hydraulic power steering and NA (I believe) I6. Surely they’re better cars although to me they don’t feel quite as balanced or tossable as E30, E36...but by now those are anywhere from old to ancient.

I had a rental post-product-improvement (not sure if LCI, I know they made some modifications based on complaints it was too “soft”) F30. It was a good enough ride...of the new cars available BMWs probably drive best. Hopefully one day they’ll have a marketing “epiphany” and rediscover their enthusiast heritage.

Hopefully.

My second E32 750iL and 3rd V12...no complaints, but the ones I’ve had were maintained per factory recommendations by PO’s and that was carried forward with me. It seems the number of people is small who got hold of good (ie, properly maintained) ones and kept up the maintenance afterward. My sense from reading around is these owners have had uniformly very good experiences. Don’t have hard data, tho

Yeah, you’re right about the hydraulic steering and N/A I6, which is why I want one as my next DD.

FWIW the decision on buying a pre-LCI E90 was solely on price and good 09's and newer were outside the allocated budget.

Or we’d have prob. got a post-LCI one.

The reduced color selection post-LCI is new info

Now that I think about it, it’s possible the same number of colors are available but most of them got changed during the LCI. So I might be confusing my preference for per-LCI colors as less colors after the LCI.

Kinja'd!!!

For example I really like this green, but it went away after the facelift.
