Kinja'd!!!

Took the kids to the Minneapolis Institute of Art yesterday. They had some family programming going and the kids are all finally old enough that they can be told not to touch things and it actually works. So we happened to be passing through a part of the museum that I hadn’t been to for many years and was very pleased to see some vehicular art.

Behind the Tatra there was a case with some other items of interest, including the most beautiful outboard motor I’ve ever seen:

Literally the reason why I visited the Minneapolis Museum of Art. Their T87 is part of the perminate collection. The gorgeous vibrant yellow Chihuly chandelier really stands out too.

I was geeking out so hard about the T87 I was explaining how/why/what made it so unique to people passing by that showed some interest. Magnesium block, heads & transmission tunnel in a flat 8 rear engined aircooled streamlined 1930s sedan that could do 120 mph!?! Come on people, this thing is amazing!

Time to pay it another visit, this time with the kiddos

Haha. I don’t know that much about the Tatra, but I was definitely the one person in the gallery squatting on the floor peering underneath. Then my kids came over and joined me.

FWIW, they have a family day one Sunday a month (next one is March 12, then April 9), so it’s a good excuse to drag that kids along. THat’s why we were there. The theme this time was China, so we listened to some Chinese music and stories, saw some Chinese dancing, and did some crafty things. My kids (7, 4, and 4) all had a great time.
