Unrelated: I think I’m partial to the headlight switch being a dial on the dash, instead of a stalk. There’s just too much going on there, imo.

I still can’t get used to the stalk in our Honda after decades of European cars putting them on the dash (and most others following suit). Ironic to see them on the stalk in a Volvo, have they always done it that way?

The last Volvo I owned before these 90s was a 940gle and that also had the headlights on the stalk (and no cupholders!).
It’s auto so I never even touch that stalk. I’m anal about washer fluid so my right hand gets a bigger workout in the car than it does in bed though.

My late-Ford-era Mazdas have the headlights on the stalk. I always assumed that was something they shared with their Ford counterparts. I’ve never actually driven a Ford from the early-2000s though, so maybe it’s just a Mazda/Volvo thing and not a Ford thing.

Oh shit, I just remembered my old ZX2 had the headlight switch on a stalk.
My SVT Focus had the switch on the dash, I think that was about the time they switched. I know the first gen of Transit Connects have the same switch. So do 2nd gen Escapes.
