I love how we all come to Oppo to share our good news. Well this one is great news actually. Started in a training program working on concrete trucks. Commute was about 30 miles, mostly highway, but when you have to drive from MD through DC to get to VA man you never know what traffic you’ll encounter. Those 30 miles took 45 min to an hour with moderate traffic.
My old man has been a driver for them for closing in on 15 years so he was able to put in a word for me. This is the first time they’ve tried the training program and decided the three new hires would be on a 6 month part time probation. Pay is decent but full time would send me through the moon. With that in mind I had come to grips that a new to me purchase would have to wait til I went full time in May possibly get the car by June/July if I made the final cut. Well with the new year people started to announce their retirements and others decided to seek employment elsewhere. That left management with only one decision to make. Starting Monday full time and no more hour restrictions. This’ll push my car purchase up to March/April!
Also they transferred to a shop that is 4 miles and only 8 minutes from my home. Saving so much gas money.
P.S. If anyone is interested in being a concrete truck driver for the company and lives in DC, MD or VA let me know. They’re aggressively hiring right now.

Have you narrowed down what your going to purchase? IIRC you were looking for anything with only 2 doors?

Not in the least. Unfortunately the flood gates are open once again. Coupes are no longer a priority. Was craving RWD but I seem to have a thing for FWD as well. HHR SS, Civic Si maybe FoST. $15k and lower its my playground.

Very cool! Always wanted to drive something big. Still don’t know how 30 miles through MD-DC-VA only took 45mins. Must have been at 3 in the morning. My 20 miles from MD-DC takes at least an hour.
