Noice

Isn’t the E82 kind of a sleeper atm? ...making it a great buy...

Also (as posted before) the argument can be made that right now is right time to car shop :D

There aren’t that many manuals to choose from and the ones out there seem to be much higher in mileage. Plus the M3 is already a stick, it doesn’t have to be a manual.

They’re pretty reasonably priced, like where the argument of get a cheap economy car loses as this will be so much more enjoyable to drive.

You’ve got an E90, right?

Maybe, I’ll at least look at them. The last Ford I had wasn’t the most reliable thing ever.

QC issues aside, the FiST has been a pretty reliable car for the owners, unless they start tuning the shit out of them.

For what it’s worth, I know of more than one E46M owner who has driven one and liked it just as much. The fun of it equals out to the epicness of the S54.

I don’t think I would be tuning it, I’ve got an M3 if I want to mod something.

I’m sure they’re fun little cars, I haven’t driven one yet.

That’s why I bought mine over an 86. I feel that stock for stock, the FiST is a better daily. And that’s why I bought it. It gets me from A to B without hesitation, achieving nearly 30mpg(with me on boost a lot of the commute), and with a smile the whole way. I’ve shit on the car a lot, but it’s what I do. For the price, it’s hard to find a better fun daily.

You have shit on it a lot, but I get what you’re saying. How many miles have you put in it?

16k, very hard miles. No mechanical issues. I do have to bring to the dealer for paint work, but pretty much every non-premium brand seem to have those issues lately.

For what it’s worth, there are a couple of them on forums with over 150k with no repairs on them, down to the clutch.

328i or 335i?

How’s long term reliablitly been? I only had my 128i for 9 months and 6,000 miles (3500 of those miles were added in one month), not really long enough for me to test reliablitly.

It’s a pre-LCI making it either a 2007 or 2008.

I should be able to guess what E36 that is, but I can’t. I’m gonna go with 1994 325i, based on the wheels and bumper.

Just bought at beginning of November. Barely 4K miles yet. Not much to report. Of course that could be good though.

No issues so far AFAIK after we replaced the eccentric shaft sensor and seal but that was due when we bought it.

Everyone seems to say, from what I’ve read personally, the N52K is the E90 engine to get for long term durability and fewest headaches? Not necessarily the quickest in the lineup, apparently, but even with the awd weight penalty this one is a plenty enjoyable performer. No V8 M3 here that it gets compared to, though lol...

Not sure how to differentiate ‘93 and ‘94. It doesn’t have the front fender side lamps (‘95 on, of course), would have been behind the xi here

One of the the reasons I bought that 128i was cause I heard good things about the N52. It did have some VANOS issues or something like that, but apparently that was fixed on the N51, that should have been in the 2012 128i I bought, but since my 128i was built in September 2011, it had an N52.

I thought the car was going to be under powered, I drove a 2009 328i coupe back in 2009 when I was 19 and was underwhelmed. Then I saw the 128i at BMW of Corpus Christi and went for a test drive and was surprised. It’s not a powerhouse, but it’s not slow. It’s not a V8 M3, but it’s got plenty of power. I’m leaning toward a 128i or 328i as my next car.

I think most of the early e36s, 92-95, were about the same. They made some changes in 96, but I’m not sure what they all were, my knowledge of BMWs is more geared toward the e90.

Yep just south of Buffalo NY. It has almost 98k miles but the price would reflect that. By all measures it has been problemless to own. A coil here and there and I changed all the spark plugs at once just to be preventative.

I’d like to get enough to pay it off. I owe just under 9.

I have the factory kidneys, a black ECS pair are installed, and I have the run flats it came with and the snow tires I put on it. You can have those if you want them. I haven’t ever autocrossed it or anything like that. I wanted to but not on snows or run flats so I never got around to it.

If we weren’t so far apart, I’d consider it. The price is about right, it’s just I’d have to get it home and that’d ad an expense. Plus there is one that’s like 10 mins from my house for sale: http://tinyurl.com/z7ajbh5 I also don’t think I’m going to get one with a lot less miles, and probably a loaded 328i auto.
