Spoilers, probably.

I still love these new cars - the speeds are incredible. Tanak had an average speed of 137km/h on one stage (I may be a few km/h off) on a snow/ice stage. Cars were hitting 180+km/h on the straights in the power stage, also on snow/ice. I love all sorts of racing, but despite the new aero additions in WRC I believe the majority of downforce comes from the weight of drivers testicles bravery.

After watching the SS14 I had my fingers crossed that Neuville would get the win that the team deserves. It was a pretty embarrassing way to kill his weekend.

On the other hand, incredible driving and luck for Latvala - I only say luck because it would’ve been a solid second place if Neuville had kept it going. I don’t think Toyota could have imagined a start this good to their WRC return. Then again,

Ogier delivered exactly what I expected - a smooth, sensible drive. He definitely had his own luck with a couple of mistakes. He’s a very smart driver, knowing when to push, when to hold back, and thinking long term about the championship points.

I’m really liking Tanak - what an exciting driver to watch. He must be getting a rally win soon, right?

Anyways, another solid weekend, but it’ll be nice to see a rally back in warm conditions after two consecutive cold, snow rallies.

This season is shaping up to be a special one. The two VW refugees have both taken a lucky win, while the arguably quickest driver so far has crashed out of both rallies. I won’t be surprised if we see Tanak and Paddon win soon either. The only disappointment is Citroën, where Breen looks like the most stable driver. I also wonder how long Hänninen keeps his seat, it must be tempting to give Lappi an earlier debut, or even bring in Mikkelsen.
