Kinja'd!!!

I started well, replacing the damaged rotor in front.

The old brake pads weren’t bad, but I decided to replace them anyway to start fresh.

I figured I’d do the rear brake shoes.

I confess, Oppo. My will failed. I was intimidated by the thought of taking things apart to get at the drum. The rear brake works fine, and I even (gasp) thought about just taking it to the dealer. NO!

I thought maybe my will would return another day. I could do something easy and fun to finish the afternoon’s wrenching, and retire to a well-deserved beer. I got it! Install my cool new handgrips!

Yes, Oppo, The the threaded portion of the mirror snapped off as I was tightening it, the aftermarket POS. Not the reliability and durability Italian vehicles are known for, right?

I did install my handgrips, but I am not really sure that I like them. Could be my general dark mood at the moment.

I am going for a ride anyway, and then I am having a beer, but in a decidedly different mood than I planned.

Toby cares nothing for my struggles.

Toby only cares for alcohol.

This makes me wish I had something to wrench on...

I did the same thing while fabbing up a brake lever the other day. Luckily I had a second bolt.

ouch.

oh well, look at the bright side you’ve now got new front brakes and that will be the one that takes a lot of the braking duties.

as for the mirror , well you can fix it.

Re: the rear drum - the front brake does most of the stopping anyway. I don’t even have rear brakes on one of my mountain bikes (admittedly this isn’t exactly the same thing.)

Oh I know. I’ve been riding a motorcycle around for about nine months with no rear brake. I only have it on there for when I’m on dirt (can’t really use a front brake too well on a moto on dirt) and in case my front brake cable breaks.

I wish I had a semi valuable scooter. Then I could bring myself to work on it. Currently I have a scooter that is worth $300-$400 that I bought for $100 that needs $200 worth of work(done professionally). I could probably do it all but just don’t want to. I want to buy a $500 jet boat that. Needs a new engine, I may hate myself.

I think the grips look good. I don’t blame you for chickening out in the rear. You had a pretty successful wrenching session I’d say. Too bad about the mirror, but shit happens.

I see that MASSIVE stock exhuast system and vote you get something lightweight and aftermarket to replace it.
