It’s still very, very early, with nothing really there beyond the raw mechanics, but the game is so ludicrously, punishingly difficult that anything you accomplish feels like a major victory, which makes it engaging as all hell.

I enjoy a challenge, but punishment is not fun. I quit Dark Souls III for that reason, I just don’t have time anymore for a game that requires hours of do-overs.
