Small dog, sure, but the hatch has a lid that keeps the trunk contents hidden, so big dog is a no. But the seats do fold down, which is nice.

Yeah I will admit, the small wheel with no feel tripped me up a bit, was super light. I’ve gotten so used to having an old car that modern things feel so weird.

Take a look at a Mazda 3 and Ford Focus, for the same price you may like them better. I opted for the Focus, which surprised me

My mom has a focus hybrid and I hate how the brakes suddenly get stronger once you get under 5mph, and my dad heard from his friends that drive a mazda 3 that it’s falling apart already, but they might be over dramatic. I’m mostly happy with the cruze because in 2 years I’m heading to college so a hatch is perfect for my future, but thank you for the suggestions.

I know right, I’ve always wanted an E30 or E28.

All I want is a E29. And money, so I can buy said E29

Yeah, it’s a great car, it’s just a little expensive for a first car, don’t worry, I’m taking it to a friend who is a certified bmw mechanic and either he’ll buy it or he’ll find some other enthusiast who will take care of it.

An E28 is expensive to own? I figured it’d be the opposite, or has it gotten to where parts are getting harder to find?

Kinja'd!!! "TheBimmerGuyWhoNowOwnsAChevy" (thebimmerguy)
02/11/2017 at 17:04, STARS: 1

Parts aren’t the easiest to find and things are suddenly going wrong, coolant leak we can’t find, eats oil like crazy, 3rd and 5th suddenly grind now. I’ve had the car for a year now and made great memories, so I’m okay with accepting the reality. If I really want an e28, I can get one when I’m older.

The weird brakes is because they’re switching between regenerative braking and normal braking, at least I assume, since it’s a hybrid. I know a couple people with new Mazda3s and they both love them, they haven’t had any issues. Definitely don’t buy something before you’ve test driven others

I had no idea there was a hatch version. Not a bad looking car.

No love for the Kia Soul? It’s not exactly the same market, but not a wildly different price range, and surprisingly well built for what it is.

Even the Veloster (definitely smaller than what you want for a college bound car) is surprisingly better than my initial expectations.

But don’t you think it’s weird that the regenerative braking would come in after the car is already almost stopped.

It could be the other way around, regen braking until 5mph and then regular brakes take over. I don’t know anything about focus hybrids, I’m just assuming since they all seem to have some form of region braking.

Regardless, it won’t have any relevance to how a non-hybrid brakes

Considering that it is my only source of transportation and the rate things are going wrong, yeah possibly. Also I’m going to ohio soon so I don’t want to ruin her with all the salted snow.

Damn, that’s a lot going wrong. Well I’m sorry to hear that, but as someone who’s daily is from the 21st century, I reluctantly understand. It sounds like it’ll get into good hands at least, and being saved from salt is very good

As far as I know, when the first owner bought it here in california, it never left the state, california car through and through.

Oh yeah, it’s comfortable, quick, functional, and quiet if you like that, personally I like hearing my car’s engine, but to each their own. Clutch is fairly soft so it be like a one legged exercise, shift throws are fairly short. My only problems are that when you go to upshift, the engine takes a second to go down, but it’s for emissions, and first gear is very short.

I have a 2016 Focus Titanium Hatch bought new 8 weeks ago, so I can’t comment on the hybrid’s behavior. The brakes on my car are fine (much better than the Jetta TDI’s brakes), in fact I really have no complaints so far. It’s your money, I’m simply suggesting you cross shop a few alternatives before you make a final decision. Incidentally, I would have bought the Mazda but the infotainment system is pathetic compared to the Ford Sync 3 system.
