Kinja'd!!!

It feels good, I’m happy I get to move on even if the pay cut I’m about to take could have almost bought this:

Kinja'd!!!

Money doesn’t buy happiness though, I have first hand experience on that. On the plus side, I’ll be living with 30 mins of my sister, and I think I’m really going to like this job. I am still waiting to hear back from another place down there, but I told myself I wasn’t going to chase money this time so I think I’m going to accept this offer.

Once I officially accept the offer, I’ll be in the market for a second car as the M3 is too expensive to daily. I’m sure there will be a lengthy post on that, now that I no longer have to job search.

Congrats! I’m pretty damn happy for you. Time for a brew?

And what are you looking for in a daily? Are you going to keep the M3 as a weekend car?

Kinja'd!!! "E90M3" (e90m3)
02/11/2017 at 10:35, STARS: 0

Yeah gonna have a few later.

Cheaper to run than an M3 and something that I won’t hate driving. I was actually thinking something like a 128i, to be honest. Keeping the M3 as it’s paid off and I’m in love with it.

Congratulations man! We’re proud of you, if you’re getting another car, may I recommend something reliable and extremely cheap to run and insure? Honda Accord coupe or sedan, or something cheap tbh, especially if you’re gonna be driving alot.

And yeah, being close to family is really cool.

I’m only 3 ish hours from Savannah. There are some decent car shows in the area. Hilton Head Concours is only 45ish minutes away. Someone in Savannah also has a Safari 911.

Be careful of buying that daily before you move, though. Some states will charge you their state sales tax before they’ll register it if you buy it too soon before moving in. It’s to keep people from going out of state to avoid sales tax.

Congrats on the new job, that’s great to hear! I’m sure a huge relief, I had an extended unemployment stretch 10 or so years ago. It was a really tough time mentally, and I was about a week away from moving back to NY when I received the job offer for the gig I still have today.

Fun to drive daily, I’d probably get a Cayman S. Or since I’m still in my muscle car phase, a used Boss 302.

I just have to comment again, I’m beyond glad that you finally got something. Back during the recession I was unemployed for just over a year, unemployment had froze up due to Government bickering and I just felt useless.

I had multiple interviews that never went anywhere, people who were smiling in my face and telling me how great of a fit I would be at a job just to tell me that they’ve selected another candidate. I finally got a big break and got called in for an interview and have been with my job ever since.

I look back on that year I spent out of work as a huge learning experience, I learned more about budgeting then I ever expected to that’s for damn sure. I hope this offer leads you to even bigger and better things!

PS 1-Series ‘vert maybe?

We used to live down that way, the climate is great for open-top. Just sayin’ cuz you mentioned M3 ‘vert in the past

btw idk how it fits into the logistics (although it *is* true, from experience, ATL used-car market is, like, a billion times  better than South GA and Savannah/Charleston / Jacksonville) but one thing they told me finishing training is,

“Get the new car *before* you show up for the new job” or they’ll kinda wonder a little if they left money on the table

Kinja'd!!! "E90M3" (e90m3)
02/11/2017 at 13:40, STARS: 1

Thanks man. It was pretty brutal, especially after the holidays it was really wearing on me. I only had benefits for 6 months cause they cut them after the recession. Finically, I was ready to quit that job and find something else so I had been saving at the beginning of last year. If anything, at least I wasn’t completely unprepared for it.

I had so many fucking interviews. Couple were like that, which is really fucking annoying. It’s like you tell me I’m extremely qualified then are like well we want to look at other options. This place that offered me the job was true to their word, so I think that’s why I’m leaning toward them no matter what the other companies come back with.

I needed to get out of my old job. In January 2016 I lost 20 lbs cause I wasn’t eating. I would go out, help rig up/rig down an entire frac location and not eat. I remember having breakfast one morning, and I had a total of 3 bites and that was literally all I could eat, then I went and did manual labor all day and never ate anything. I was down, really down. I was happy to be laid off, I needed the kick in the ass to make a change, but I didn’t think it was going to take this long. I thought I had some really good leads in July, one place brought me in and it wasn’t an interview more of a do you want this job. They never got back to me fuck that company.

The M3, apart from the throttle position actuators, has been very reliable, I didn’t have my 128i for long enough to test it’s reliability. Generally Japanese are more reliable, but the enjoyment I get from driving German cars makes up for some unreliability.

I’d kill myself on a motorcycle. Not cause they’re dangerous, I’d just go too fast.

My high school friends had dirt bikes. I remember we took some up to one of my friend’s dad piece of property an hour away from us. I was ridding some 1994 200CC 4 stroke Honda and I was pretty much flat out in 4th when I crested the hill and staring at me is a fence. I panic braked, locked both the front and back wheels and started to slide. They were drums on this particular bike. I almost crashed it, that was enough of a motorcycle experience for me.

I hate being strung along by a job. One of the worst feelings. I remember one job brought me back to interview 2 more times and still didn’t give me the job. Total waste of time. Your old job sounds like hell though so I’m glad this will be a step up from that in quality of life for you. Hope it pans out man!

You just so discouraged after a while. It’s like is there something wrong with me? Well there was something wrong with me, I hadn’t done a good enough job at convincing people that I had transferable skills, which is what I focused on in the end.

I’m really looking forward to this. It will be so much better than my old job, apart from the pay. Money doesn’t buy happiness, and for once I’m going to try and be happy.

Cool. Savannah is an interesting town. A friend of mine (I am in Seattle) moved to ATL for a few years, lived in an eastern suburb just OTP. He hated it, but liked going to Savannah.

I also live just far enough away that I am not pressured to see family every weekend, and if they complain, I can tell them “roads go both ways” :)
