After months of telling my wife her car needs new tires, she finally dumped the task on me. So, here I sit, waiting for new rubber. This is not what I had planned for my Saturday morning!

After I’m done here, I have to run home and prep for my inlaws’ arrival. Yet another thing I didn’t expect this weekend!

Surprises are great.

As long as you’re not expecting the Spanish Inquisition.

R888's can be had for a good price if you look around.

I did the digging. They roped me in with tires they “didn’t realize” they didn’t have in stock, then sold me a better tire at a discount when I pointed out the bait-and-switch, then followed up with a price comp from Walmart. They didn’t like being beat by Walmart.

I’ve never understood the sit and wait. Why not take the wheels off at home and drive them over to the tire shop? Then you still have a car and don’t have to worry about some asshole cross threading a lug bolt on with the impact driver.

With the cars we own, that isn’t possible. The WRX might be able to fit two inside and two on top, but I’m not interested in putting dirty tires inside of it. The truck isn’t driveable right now and the Explorer is the one that needs tires.

Keep in mind that this is the South. We don’t have a need for a second set of wheels with winter tires. I also only have two jack stands, so leaving it on stands in the driveway wouldn’t work either.

A star is a star, no matter how far (ago, in time).

Thanks.
