They don’t exactly mix do they? Anyways, after seeing my school’s drama department perform footlose -which was absolutely great btw- I for some reason decided to test out my phone’s Raw feature at 5312 x 2988 (supposedly) and it’s... okay I guess. I like photography, especially at night, but I don’t want to buy an expensive camera, and pure digital cameras like in phones suck at low light levels. Tell me what you think of my photo, I think I still looks great.

You can get a more than decent DSLR for $300 to $600, depending on what it is and if it’s new or used, to get you started. The problem with the cameras in phones is that the sensor is so small. They don’t work well in low light, and they loose tons of detail from anything more than a few feet away. But, with the right app, you can make your phone take better pictures than you’d think it can.

For phone photography, if you have an iPhone, I would recommend this camera app: 645 PRO . It allows you to control things like shutter speed and ISO that the native camera apps don’t let you touch. Then get Adobe Mobile LightRoom for editing them. I recently took this with an iPhone 7 using 645 Pro and LightRoom. It was taken in a very dark room. If you don’t have an iPhone, I’m sure there are similar apps available for Android, I just don’t know what they are. If you have an iPhone, go buy it right now. Right. Now.

I have a galaxy s6 so by default I can mess with iso and “shutter” speed (still learning how to properly manipulate and use them) and to view/export/edit the Raw I used snapspeed from google. But it would be a great idea to look at what apps are out there. Also nice pic, black and white is always fun to work with, or admire.

Did you edit the photo at all? The beauty of shooting RAW is being able to go back and bring out details in the shot that are actually there, but hidden. You can’t bring out that hidden detail in JPEGs because it’s not there to begin with.

I don’t know much about the galaxy s6, but I do know that it has a decent sensor. Def get LightRoom for editing on the go. It’s free. You can’t beat that. These look like a good place to start for camera apps. The first one looks like a winner. Looks easy to use, not expensive.
