I believe I saw this car in the Barber Museum here in Birmingham (or one of the versions of it). IIRC, he’s still the only person to win both F1 and Motorcross in the same year, all without wearing a flat-brimmed cap. Quite a feat!

I’m at Barber right now. Same car.

Nice...have fun! Let me know if you’re looking for anything to fill your free time. I’ve lived in the area for over 15 years and can offer (hopefully) some recommendations. I know you’re an airplane guy, so if you haven’t been to the Southern Museum of Flight near the airport, it’s small but worth the $7 or so. Bonus: Mi-24 Hind inside. Because reasons.

Close, he won four 500cc World Championships on bikes in 56,58,59 and 60 then won formula one in 64. He is the only person to win world championships on two and four wheels.

Also less egotistical than Moss, Surtees is a true gentleman.

Ahh, I knew doing it in the same year seemed damn near impossible. Anyway, I have some neighbors (American) who are distant relatives of his, same last name. Pretty rare in the US.
