Kinja'd!!!

A BDP-93 to be more precise. The red LED next to the power button illuminates when plugged in but goes out when the power button or drawer open button is pressed. Is this thing worth buying and fixing if I can get it for less than $10, or is it just too old to be truly useful these days? Of course, the remote is nowhere to be found...

For 10 bucks, I would just buy it for the brushed metal OPPO faceplate and attach it to something else. But I’m a just poor schmuck who doesn’t even have Jalopnik Gold, so this would be better than nothing.

Those are very nice players, if you can fix it, its absolutely worth it. It originally retailed for $500 in 2011. Unless you have a need to watch 4k discs, that’s about the best blu-ray player you’ll find. Here’s a review of it.

High end machine, worth a gamble.

I have an Oppo, I forget the model, but it is region-free. Cost me several hundred dollars back around 2010.

Red LED means standby power is present. It goes out because it’s no longer in standby.

Yes, but nothing happens when the light goes out. No display, no drawer opening, etc., basically no signs of life.
