They admitted Chandler to the NICU (at 1:30 A.M.) for at least 48 hours. His CBC showed some immature white blood cells and a slightly low platelet count. So all that, combined with his rough and slightly elevated breathing, point to signs of an infection. So, they are starting him on antibiotics now just in case. In the mean time, we are waiting on results of a chest x-ray and a culture to confirm if it is an infection. The culture will take about 48 hours. If it does come back and show an infection in the bloodstream, he will have to stay in the NICU on antibiotics for 7 days. Otherwise, just 48 hours.
As of right now, that’s all we know. So, there unfortunately can’t be any visitors right now, which sucks. Please keep little Chan Man and his worried momma and daddy in your prayers.

they will take good care of him. My girls were born early and spent a month in there after birth in incubators and feeding tubes.
my experience, it being your child and so young makes it look way worse that what it is.

Oiy, you’re getting an intro to the suck of parenthood right off the bat! Our little girl spent her first night in icu with ‘water in lungs’- little breaths. I barely remember it now but it wasn’t so funny at the time.
Kids are amazing though, and bodies are built to handle this stuff. Hang tough, this is but the first of many things to terrify a new parent.
We’re all cheering for you little Chandler.

My son spent the first seven weeks in NICU, he was born 10 weeks early.
Granted, he was also born on Father’s Day in Vegas, which is cool.

Prayers for the little guy - I’m sure he’s getting great care, and hopefully he gets better fast! It’s amazing how quickly babies can recover with great care. I know you and mom are feeling great stress right now, and prayers for both of you, too!

I feel your pain. Just keep by his side and trust in the doctors and nurses.
Our little one went straight to the NICU before she had a name(we had two and we wanted to see her before choosing). She was okay in the end but it felt terrible when we didn’t know exactly what was wrong, but again, we had lots of confidence in the doctors and all turned out all right. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

Glad to hear he’s in the right place with the right people. I’ll be praying for you all. It’s not unusual, almost half the people I know had kids who went to the NICU for one thing or another. They’re always super careful with the little ones. I’m mostly just sad you don’t get to visit with him :D
