Kinja'd!!!

So, I want these wheels in black, 17 x 8 for my 2015 Mini Cooper S. They’re JNC 049's. Unfortunately, I’ve heard this is a “fake” wheel brand. I know Rota’s are like the king of shit-tier wheels along with brands like XXR and Avid1, but I can’t really find anything definitive on JNC Wheels other than some generic Volk knockoffs everyone and their dog made in the 2000's. So what say you, Oppo?

If I don’t get these, I’ll probably get the Fifteen52 Turbomacs in black.

I say save yourself the trouble and go with Fifteen52's They are a quality wheel and I think would look sharp on your mini.

I vote that you go with the higher quality wheels.

Keep in mind that the F56 is very particular about the amount of offset on the wheels. There is a very fine line between rubbing the shock and having a bunch of poke.

A few cars ago, I had Drag DR-38s on my Mazdaspeed 6. They’re a Discount Tire knockoff of the Enkei GTC-01. They were light weight and the finish on them was actually really nice.

For your car, the Drag DR-67 17x7.5" is $115 each. Silver is a few bucks cheaper.

I couldn’t find a pic on a Mini but you get the idea. These are 18s on this FoST.

Thanks! The stats on these and the 1552s are the same (bore might be bigger on the JNCs), and I’ve seen them both on the F56. I like the retro-ness of them both - you’ve got the bigass star on one of them, an the other has the turbovents. I’ll just have to save an extra paycheck for the Turbomac’s so price was never the issue, I just really like the look of the JNCs but feared the quality.

I love that style so much. So, the wheel below is made by MST Wheels. It’s only a prototype (or was as of 4 weeks ago at least) but they have been selling a few to get some feedback. The MST’s are certainly higher quality, and while I have no idea what the original was, if you compare the two the JNC wheels look like a bad knockoff whereas the MST’s look like a top of the line forged wheel. I lost the screenshot but they were lighter as well. I would give them a call and see what they would charge for a set to your specs. I want a set of them for my Miata, but refuse to go with wheels that aren’t lighter than stock... that’s why I did all this research haha

A stronger wheel is always a better thing, especially if you are planning on autocrossing/tracking or just live in an area with potholes.

I’m currently drooling over getting a set of Sparco Assetto Garas for my 2004 Cooper.

I love them and they look like they’re on eBay already, BUT they don’t make them in my lug pattern. Also for some reason their sizes go from 17x9 to 18x8.5. The hell is that about?

Hmm that is strange. The quality on those ebay ones looks a lot worse then the set I saw in person... Wonder if they’re legit?

Okay how about inverse stars? Also fifteen52 (forgot what model). I’m trying to imagine these on a mini...

Too big - smallest I can find is 19's, but I like your thinking here.

The biggest things to look at are weight and construction. More weight is bad obviously and cast is worse than anything else.

IMHO Rota’s are excellent wheels for the money. My Grid’s are lightweight, and 2 years racing with no problems. If you are worried about potholes, wreck a $125 wheel instead of a $400 one.....

ah the fake v real argument... some batches of rotas were bad, but after all the bad press, they fixed it. some other brands still have their bad batches, but thats like cars themselves in general.

buy what you like, just make sure you protect it by having the “right” size tires on there...
