I don’t know why someone would buy it over a Tahoe or Armada, but still. I like this. Still though, it faces the same problem the Tahoe does. It looks too short. The EL will probably look more natural.

The Expedition exists for the same reason they’ve always existed: There are Ford people and when they need a 7 seat wagon...they have a Ford choice.
That being said, I think its not bad looking, if extremely flattering to GM

A comparable Range Rover will cost probably twice the money though (or at least in Canada). A Discovery is probably a better comparison.

I haven’t driven the current generation, but I’ve driven both the Tahoe and Suburban from the previous generation (GMT900) and that difference in wheelbase made a big difference in the ride. I much prefer the way the Suburban soaks up bumps.

Even in SUV land, there are still Ford/Chevy people. People will buy an Expedition because it’s a Ford. It is a good looking vehicle, though, so that will sway buyers on that merit as well. Hopefully it’s also a reliable/competitive vehicle as well.

My uncle had one in that (red) color with a chrome ladder. Stupid thing was nuclear lava in the sun...just like the seat belt buckles. Pretty sure I still have a burn tattoo like raiders of the lost ark guy from accidentally sitting on one in the 80's

Coworker has a giant Yukon/Suburban/whatever and I can’t imagine parking one of those things every day. About as long as my extended cab long bed 2500 and wider than the Camaro. Wonder if the Ferd is any better.

The Chevy doesn’t have an independent rear suspension. It really does hurt interior packaging, cargo space, and ride. As for the Armada, the choice is tougher. I’d imagine Nissan’s historic reliability issues with the Titan don’t help matters even though the Armada is no longer really related. Also, the EcoBoost should help somewhat in the fuel economy department vs. the ancient 5.6L V8, but 16 vs. 18 isn’t exactly going to make a huge difference in a $45k+ vehicle.

When I rent from national and have the choice between the two, i choose the exepedition every time. EcoBoost Baby!
