Very true. Still, they occasionally caught my side mirrors (which don’t dim) and I was surprised by how blinding they still managed to be. Not as bad as late at night, but damn.

My Mini is the first car I have owned with an auto dimming mirror and I had never realized how awesome they are. I just wished I had auto dimming side mirrors for late night highway trips to school.

My XC90 has it and it works equally epic, but the Z4 doesn’t and it’s a PAIN in the butt since it sits so low that even low beans on cars and trucks seem like high beams reflecting and your face.

So many basic lighting issues honestly do give me the most grief on the roads.

No lights, high beams, aftermarket BS, tinted tail lights, no brake lights, no turn signals, etc etc drive me bonkers!

Depends where you are.

This was terrifying. Of course if they didn’t have any lights on at all the would just drive off the road, potentially taking you with them, so all things considered I agree... but in terms of what I want to see, I’d rather they just left them off and hit a tree. I’d rather they be blind than me.

That’s the big issue I have with mine. I sit so low that most cars have their headlights at eye level with me.

Without autodimming, it’s honestly pretty horrid. I can’t believe it wasn’t standard equipment on Z4. Hopefully it was on Mini. Here in TX and the large amount of pickup trucks with aftermarket HID/LED bars... oh boy

I don’t think anyone makes side mirrors that auto dim. I don’t know why. My E39's mirrors have like a blue film on them that helps with lights at night. Tinted windows also help, but make not lighted objects harder to see.

New Subarus have auto-dimming side mirrors as an option.
