Too much tlc needed. Then again: Doug didn’t want to spend enough for a decent one.
I’ve driven these quite the bit actually. Truly special. Get that coin before it’s too late. I don’t expect E30 M3 prices though. Mechanically not as sound. Not even close. So it will turn to be a garage queen.

Ugh, it’s coming back now, sad that they get to that state.
Are the 8Vs any more or less reliable than the 16Vs? Of course I’d like a 16, but if I was in a position to buy and an exceptionally nice 8V came up, would it be worth jumping on? I’d want one I could use regularly. The way prices are, maybe I’ll have a Delta before a 911 ;)

Not too bad, the 02 is same as ever, waiting patiently for my time and money to appear. It’s taken apart, need to build the cylinder head and put the car back together. It’s got an aluminum show cage in it that needs to come out, lots of other needs too. Someday...
How’s yours? You were pretty heavy in school if I recall, going ok?

Just don’t go selling it. Slow and easy is just fine.
I’m doing well. Graduated last December. Working a pretty good job in DC RN. Picked up an e46 330i because I couldn’t keep DDing the 2002 through the city. It was awful.
The 2002 doesn’t get used as much, but it’s more enjoyable that way. Just did an autox 2 days ago in it.
This was from December’s autox. Yes, that’s snow.

Not much difference. Nor is there much difference in speed. The extra power meant a heavier engine. Which meant the 16v got different torque split: more power to the rear. 16vs have weaker cambelts and are somewhat harder to maintain but that should not worry you. Personally I’d go for an 8V in a heartbeat, as the difference in speed is minimal and the balance is great (better?). If I’d want it to be a powerhouse I’d go for the 16v though as that one is more easily tweaked for more.

Super jealous of the snowy autocross, that looks like a blast!! Congratulations on graduating and getting into work! Glad you could take some burden off the 2002 so you can simply enjoy it as it should be. I daily an E46 for now too, no rush on the 02 because I can’t hurry such things in my life. I don’t see selling that car unless we’re in dire straits, they’ve been part of my life too long.
