Cleaning/detailing my car is so relaxing. Not that I’m a huge fan of the labor, I just love the result. It’s like working on cars, shortly after getting a job at a dealership I realized that I didn’t care to work on other people’s cars because I’d get to enjoy very little of the result. But today I hurried home so I could take some glass cleaner and a clean microfiber to the inside and outside of all my windows, go over my headlights with PlastX (they were getting a tad yellowish again), and wax on/wax off the whole thing panel by panel. It was equal parts satisfying and annoying because while the car was becoming shinier I was getting uncomfortably aware of the ludicrous amount of chips and scrapes my car has. Oh, well.

Can we see some pictures from the other side of the car, perhaps?

Not allowed. Also it was in shadow and I couldn’t get any usable pictures

It gets increasingly broken, but still gets driven occasionally.

Looks great...I feel the same way you do. I find it quite relaxing to work on, and detail my vehicles. Detailing especially feels good.

Nice work!

PS: I re-learned about the D-Technique TD-1001R . The bodykit is heavily inspired by the MPS Miata concepts from ‘02-’04. The only downside is that they went with a less-spec NB6 engine (it makes less power than the NA6) but it had lots of work done to it to make it very rev-happy. Price of the nose kit? Around $3,000 when new. Do want anyway.

That... that’s a new one. Looks like a caricature of an NB. Huh. This weekend I’m doing a foamectomy so I can fit in my car with the hardtop on and my helmet on and for comfort because NB seats are honestly garbage. Also gonna fix the torn stitching in the seat and toss in my seat shakers I had in the NA, which I’ll wire to the unused rear channels of my head unit. Should be fun times.

Also, to help settle an argument: What’s your opinion on a hardtop with full side latches/Frankenstein bolts/etc.’s effect on a Miata’s chassis dynamics?

Can’t really say as I’ve only autocrossed the Miata twice with the hardtop on. Also, mine is forever adjustable incorrectly so it bumps and rattles over bad roads so it’s probably not doing much for chassis stiffening as it could. I do it more for comfort and not having to worry about softtop leaks when DD’ing it to work. I’m a bit surprised the NB2 seats aren’t your thing but they do feel better with a minor to mild foamectomy, the side bolstering actually starts doing something. That said, try NB1 seats if you haven’t already, I couldn’t stand sitting it them for more than a few minutes.

Yeah, my hardtop latches, for some odd reason, don’t seem to come in enough to actually pull on the strikers, almost like I need to shim them somewhere. When I first got it there were no rattles at all but now it’s a mess and I can’t figure out what to adjust. Definitely makes the car feel better over speed bumps or railroad tracks, though.

Had a foamectomy in my NA. Buddy has a SEVERE foamectomy in his. It is definitely one of the “must do” Miata mods.

NB is best Miata. Mine had the machined gas cap cover too, loved it.

Recently doused the hinge in a bit of white lithium grease because it wasn’t opening. So nice.

The best part of waxing it panel by panel was running my finger from an unwaxed panel to a waxed panel. Hnnnngggggg.
