He also ties them waaaaay to long. The tip of the tie should be between the top and bottom of one’s belt, not way below it. (Also pants should not be on the waist, not above or below it but that’s a seperate issue).
Also his suits fit exceedingly poorly. This is mostly because he is actually quite overweight. He’s a little under 6'2" and weighs about 250 lbs. That’s technically obese. He thinks the baggy suits hide his waistline, and to an extent it works, but it means they fit poorly on the shoulders and arms.

I don’t see the knot or the ties themselves as real problems, honestly, but he does wear them ridiculously long. He comes off looking like a kid that raided his dad’s closet, since his suits are also cut way too big and loose. Fashion sense seems to be one of the few things Trump and Bernie Sanders have in common.

I think his suits must mean he has astoundingly little patience. I mean, for not much money, you go to a good mensware store, tell the attendant/clerk/whatever to make you look good, they help you pick something good, takes your measurements and sends it to a tailor. With Trump’s budget (and he does apparently buy expensive suits), you could have them made bespoke.
The only thing I can think is that he can sit still for 10-15 minutes to get measured properly. So much in fashion looks awful on fat people, but a well tailored suit will flatter anyone, from the lanky to the obese.
