Kinja'd!!!

4" of snow = SNOWMAGEDDON in the PNW. Scraping off the taco took maybe 30 minutes. Doors were frozen shut. I made it to the office but it was dicey. Plenty of cars in the ditch.

Both of my appointments today were canceled which will only snowball (heh.) my workload for the rest of the week. Not even 10 people showed up for work... Should have slept in, dammit. CURSE YOU, WORK ETHIC!

I live down a hill. I watched out my bedroom window as an older GMT400 SUV struggled to get traction.

After things thaw try spraying some WD40 into the lock cylinders and either wipe silicone spray onto your weatherstrips with a rag or spray them with PAM kitchen spray.

Oh I have some de-icer. I sprayed around the weather stripping and pulled with all my LOINS. It came.

Places that rarely see snow should definitely just shut down. People do not have snow tires, its just too dangerous. Even here in NJ I just do not go to work if it’s snowing. I can work from home if needed or take the day off. Not worth dealing with that crap, even with my snow tires.

I live on the edge of the Lake Erie snowbelt, if you do what I recommend you’ll be able to walk out and open a door like normal in a 4" snowfall. I’ve lived here over 30 years and never had a can of de-icer. I won’t school you on tires.

Dave is right. Wipe down the rubber seals with silicon spray or PAM or something and the doors won’t stick shut from the ice. It really works. Or park in a garage ;)

There’s maybe half a dozen people on the floor of my building right now, gotta love snow in Seattle. My view is of Factoria Blvd, which is deserted.

I came in today, as this is the first real snow event we’ve had where I have had an AWD car. No issues, but had this obstacle on the way in:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

(music added due to conversation).

Fun to drive down the wrong way of a divided arterial road, but with little other traffic, no problem. I hope the snow continues.
