Kinja'd!!!

Hey guys, so I was hunting on Auto Trader Canada, and I stumbled upon this ad:

Kinja'd!!!

You may notice, it says “Supercharged”.

I know Mazdaspeed did tune some Miatas, and there’s been some turbo options, but a supercharged NA?

Unfortunately I have no interior shots or engine bay photos, simply the header image and this one of the badging:

Kinja'd!!!

So, is it a Pep Boys badge, or did this sort of thing even exist? Would love to know. :)

No factory supercharger, but plenty of aftermarket choices. If anything, someone put a supercharger on it... and a badge.

Well, that appears to be a badge that came off of a 90s Buick Park Ave. So what’s under the hood is still up for debate.

Looking on Google though, the dealership doesn’t exactly look super reputable. Maybe contact the dealer and ask for underhood pictures?

The only forced induction ones that came from the factory were 2004-2005 Turbos.

Looks very clean for a Canadian car.

With that wheel choice and application of an unnecessary badge, no way would I want to ever consider that car. Especially at that price. Any forced induction Miata (that isn’t a ‘04-’05 mazdaspeed) is a project car. I dont think I ever want to buy someone elses project but I would totally take it on at salvage prices (like $1-2k max).

That’s a lot of money to have tied up in that car. I don’t mind buying a car that has had a few simple modifications, but this is a bit much.

I would stay away. I can’t tell from the pictures, but many of the white cars had problems with the paint. Because of the model year you would want to check the vin to check if it will have the crank nose problem. Buying a modified car from a dealer is not a move I would personally feel good about.

Supercharging is a common mod for more power in the Miata community. Moss Motors sells supercharger kits specifically for the 1.8 right out of their catalogue.
