Awesome Goélette, I’m sure a contractor with such a good choice of vehicle must be a good one.

The Volvo is a bit dirty though... (not that I should be the one telling you that, since my Twingo is filthy too.)

Rudy is great. Not sure if he’ll work in East-Brabant though ;-)

I just had it serviced. So it’s clean again...

(googles Goélette)

Turns out to be:

“un fourgon automobile à cabine avancée fabriqué par Renault”

Or a forward control van by Renault. New to me, must have been lhd markets only.

Not sure about that. This particular one was a 4wd Military Ambulance only used by the Belgian and French Armies. A Goélette was a ship as well, Schooner in English.

Love the Renault 4! I just love ‘People’s Cars’ in general....if I could have a garage with a FIAT 500, FIAT 126, 2CV, Renault 4, Trabant, and Skoda 105/120/130 series, I’d be a happy man! :P

Zelfs Renault Nederland vond het bijzonder dat hij met de Goélette reed: hij stond in Renault’s laatste Glossy: Losange . Pagina 86.

Love it! I’d be happy with a classic Lada as well (i.e. the originals that are essentially rebadged FIATs) :P

I’d be fine with that 850 or the Panda as well!

That Lada actually was in Latvia. Totally Kommi!

Somehow I’m totally into Samba Rallyes as we speak. Up to France it is!

Or that Panda 4x4...

Where are you located my good sir? :) I’m over here in Nova Scotia, Canada, so any rides like these are forbidden fruit to me :(

In Europe (Netherlands). And I’ve tasted all those forbidden fruits of yours already. Not all of ‘m are for a decent diet, believe me... ;-)

Maybe check out a French Friday post of mine on LaLD once in a while. It’s often a combination of cast and history of all you love. I did Delecour’s Samba two weeks ago !

Of my list, the 126 is the car I want to import the most...love the little things. The 2CV and Skoda would probably be tied for second! :)

126s are awesome. As are the 2CVs. You should really try out the Skoda. That will cure you from wanting one ;-)

02/07/2017 at 11:27, STARS: 1

Oh? I always had read that Skodas were surprisingly well-built for Eastern Bloc vehicles, though their handling wasn’t easy. They were even imported and sold here in Canada for a time back in the late 80's (though not in Nova Scotia where I am).

As to the 126 and 2CV - yup! Ilove the classic 500, so the 126 is just a newer, boxier version of that as they have such similar mechanicals underneath! :P

Wouldn’t mind owning a 2CV someday, but their prices have gone up a LOT in the last awhile. I can still get a 126 in excellent shape including shipping to Canada for $5-6K CAD though, and that’s what I hope to do in the next year or two! :) I could probably get one even cheaper than that (the above $5-6K quote was what I was given by a classic car shop in Poland) if there was someody in Europe that knew the cars well and was willing to help me look privately! :D

I was referring to their handling ;-)

Well, if you want something checked out in the Netherlands/Belgium (I live near the Belgian border) just ask. I have friends in Latvia as well (the picture of the Lada was from a trip to Latvia), not sure if you’ll see many 126s there but I can ask. He imports/exports cars there so he’s a good lead. I’ll ask him anyway...

Cool! I’d be awhile (a year or two probably) until I am in a position to do so, but if you talk to him sometime, ask how much he thinks it would cost to get a 126 in mint shape! :D Thanks so much if you do - it doesn’t hurt to keep my options open, especially if I can find one for a lower price that is still in good nick! :)

What’s the age limit for Canada, is it anything like US-law with 25 years? I contacted my Latvian friend: they only got ‘m later (not in the Kommi-era). He came up with these 3:

Kinja'd!!!

The 3k one only has 42k kms on it. Was imported from Poland in 2010, bought of an 80 year old Polish. I’m getting it my self hahaha!

Very nice! Canada has a 15-year import rule, so any 126 would be legal here.

I wish I could get one now, but I have to wait until I get my own place first! Please post about yours if you do get it, looking forward to those posts! :D

My friend is checking it out next weekend. It’s been repainted though. Can you tell what the original color was?

Also has some terrible looking wheel spacers on it as well? I’m hoping to get one with all the ‘bells and whistles’ - i.e. the front blower fan, cloth seats, and rear defrost :P

I’d prefer mine in stock condition though! 3K Euros seems a bit high for that one?

Kinja'd!!! "Jobjoris" (Jobjoris)
02/08/2017 at 16:04, STARS: 1

I think it’s just those wheels being too wide. That definitely won’t be the on it when I get it here, that is totally illegal over here.

3K if it’s really 42k kms and good condition is fine. Let’s wait what Arie will “find” Saturday. He’s seen more pictures and definitely spotted some corrosion already. Price is “negotiable” though.
