In case you don’t know who that is, he’s Ken Paxton. He’s our state Attoney General. He’s currently facing a felony trial for securities fraud.
In other words, the highest legal authority in our state, the person who is supposed to uphold our state constitution, serve as a bastion for justice and the ensurer of press freedoms, is himself facing criminal prosecution.
Bodes well, doesn’t it?
And if that weren’t bad enough, he’s also a “religious freedom” nut job who supports transphobic and anti-immigrant shit. He’s so far to the right that even the Tea Party distanced themselves from him.
But I mean, we can’t let Paxton have all the fun. Your attorney general accepted a bribe from Donald Trump (allegedly) to drop her Trump University investigation.

I’ve been in Texas for three years, and I still haven’t been to Whataburger...
In my defense, I’ve done fast food less than half a dozen times in that period, only when travelling, and Whatburger doesn’t really seem to be populated in those areas.

Confession time - we have In-n-Out here in SA now. I go a lot. Mainly because my daughter had Celiac and they do the lettuce wrapped burger thing very well. It’s about the only fast food place that is safe for us to go besides Chipotle. I like it. It’s not as good as Whataburger, but I wouldn’t say it sucks.

Hmmm. I wonder if anyone’s ever approached Whataburger about offering a breadless option? They’re already pretty good about making whatever you want (with the ingredients they have) however you want it, so I can’t see why they couldn’t add a lettuce burger or lettuce chicken wraps to their menu, too.
If you have twitter send them a tweet. Their social media dude/dudette is really responsive. At the very least it could help raise awareness with them that they’re missing out on customers with special dietary needs.

Good call, hadn’t really thought of that. It also depends on everything else by having any wheat in the ingredients and staff making sure it doesn’t get cross-contaminated, but at a burger place that isn’t hard. But it can’t hurt to ask!

There was a non related burger chain called What-a-burger in NC and the Virginias. Back in the 70s we had one local one on the Outer Banks that had fantastic burgers. They are mentioned on the Whataburger wiki. Local surfers would ask some employees to make a 3/4 lb burger. That and a big vanilla shake after a day of winter surfing was a favorite ritual of mine.
