I just came back from visiting with a friend who is stopping chemotherapy and starting palliative care. One of the sweetest and most faithful people I have known, has had a miracle in surviving this cancer 9 years ago, but is at the end of the battle now. At least her young kids have had a lot of time with her, but it still is a major kick in the gut.

Cherish what you have, we have a limited time only in our lives. Try to make a positive difference as she did.

And enjoy your passions . . . such as cars.

My brother fought cancer valiantly for six years, he died in September 2015 at the age of 54. It was a relief in the end, the downhill slide was horrible.

Four months later my dad passed away unexpectedly from a heart condition.

Two weeks after I buried my dad I got laid off. Bad things comes in threes.

Two months later, on March 11th 2016 I got married. It was my brother’s birthday, and I wore my dad’s favorite Hawaiian shirt.

I’m sorry to hear about your friend. I can’t relate to your specific situation, but losing a close friend is always difficult - especially at a relatively young age.

Pardon if this is impertinent, but as I read your story it reminded me of a song.

I’m so sorry to hear that. One of my friends in HS had a similar situation with his dad’s pancreatic cancer. They knew about two months out that he had lost the battle. It’s one of the most gut-wrenching things in the world to watch.
