I say this as someone who is probably to the hard left of everyone here except for the filthy Europeans and their wannabe Canadian and Australian colonies, and as someone who is truly horrified by what has been going on and what it means for America’s ideals and long term influence in the world.
It’s a nice sentiment. It’s worth reading. It’s worth acting on. But at this point, it’s just sharing the same thing over and over again. I shared Jezebel’s post , it was promptly unshared. That hurt a bit, but I let it go. It’s really irritating to have that happen when you feel strongly about something, but let it go. There’s no real resisting going on with resharing over and over again (and it’s pushing down my 80s post). Instead of resharing, just make a post with actual content. Link to the resist post, but do it in a way that we can actually have a discussion.
Because, frankly, if this keeps going on, then I’m going to just keep resharing my defense of the J-Gate until you fuckers realize the error of your ways.

I’ve taken a few stripes here for my political posts, but also enjoyed some really excellent discussion. I’m working on a post right now.
Just make your posts original to you, and paste a link inside the post. Include a bit of commentary to show folks where you’re at. I’ve gotten modded a few times, but they’ve been gentle.
I am certain that there are some more conservative Oppos out there, but they don’t have the energy to repell a shitstorm, so they stick to cars. I think that’s too bad, because it’s in a forum like this that we can rehearse and hone — and discover — what we really think.

I keep up with the news and although yes I appreciate OPPO isn’t solely an automotive site (some people seem to think it is, but nope).
I’m shocked and sickened by what is happening in the U.S. right now for our American cousins and foreign nationals, etc... within it’s borders but also the rest of the world that’s impacted by such a shit show.
But repetitive stuff like several posts of ‘ban the theme day/stop doing the theme day’ (I quite like theme day. It’s a nice way to see everyones take on a theme be it informative, silly or just sarcastic), now we’ve got trump-agedon stuff, then ‘can people stop posting stuff about trump-agedon, resist, then ‘can people stop posting about resist’.
The great thing about OPPO is it’s light but cares about what’s going on.
The Cigar Lounge is a great place to go if you want to really express yourself and have a proper political rant or discussion as doing it on OPPO is going to create a bit of tension and not create the discussion you were wanting.
That’s just my opinion, take it with a pinch of salt if people wish to but we’ve got a good think going here, so why risk breaking it.
