Incidentally, I have been looking at Jettas of this vintage lately to find out what they’d cost as an engine donor, and in my area I seem to be able to get a good runner with a few fewer miles for like $4-5k.

It really bugs me when they debadge these but the hood still has that cut out for the badge.
Also, wouldn’t have probably been cheaper to make the badge or hood not be so big the hood needs a notch taken out of it?

For MkIII, IIRC the Jetta had a flat hood, while the Golf had a cutout. I think Mk IV were all cutouts. Doesn’t work well with a badgeless grille, better to just paint the stock badge flat black or body matched.

Fun fact: some of us on TDIClub call Ontario TDI owners “Ontards”, mainly because the moderation of the Ontario regional subforum is... really poor, and lets people get away with a lot of stupid shit, which feeds on itself, and then half the time you see a stupid post elsewhere in the forums, it’s by someone from Ontario.
