...and see your car and think to yourself that you’re the luckiest person around to have such a sweet ride? I do, and it’s not the MB, Porsche, BMW or VW that made me feel that way.

Kinja'd!!!

Weird, I know.

You should replace the Mazda5 badge with one of these.

I think I liked the 5's styling before the facelift, but still a great little MPV....plus....it was available with a stick! More things need to go back to having an available stick!

Also, not weird at all! I love underpowered, poorly-built ‘People’s Cars’ like the 2CV, Trabant, Yugo, FIAT 126, etc.....I’ll be importing that 126 of my own, then I’ll be weird to everybody else for wanting it! :P

I wanted one of these quite badly. I was too influenced by my wife’s utter and complete contempt for it though.

I do that with our Camry. Is that bad?

I do the other way around. Sometimes I look at them both and go “someone like me does not deserve happiness like this”, I do the same when I look lovingly at my girlfriend. It always draws up feelings of happiness, that I’m lucky.

What do I think I actually deserve? I don’t know, I never had an actual conversation with that part of my mind before.

I almost always look back at my car after I park it. It looks geerrrrd.

The previous version was pretty clean but a little nondescript (except for those cool taillights). The 2012+ version can be a somewhat polarizing but I happen to like the goofy smile and swoops on the side. Mine is in a one year only color and has the 6MT. I’m keeping this bugger forever; even if I won the lottery I’d still keep it - I like it that much.

To be honest, I have seriously considered this. Having owned a highly modified E34 (but not the M5), this would be a little link to my past ride. Right now I have a ‘Sport’ badge pulled off of a C-class MB that I was thinking of putting under that factory badge.

Makes me wonder what expression my 3rd gen Integra makes. It doesn’t look anthropomorphic. It looks like someone asked me to design the lights for the car and I stuck two light bulbs on each side.

Kinja'd!!!

I pulled this of an Isuzu Impulse in the junkyard, I was going to put it on my Explorer before I traded it in.

The next car I have is going to have some stupid badge or sticker on it, for my own amusement. Like if I get a Mazda3, I’m replacing the “M” and the “3" with an M3 badge.

She’s mellowed out now. I’ve gotten her immune to my automotive whims. Since she is letting me freely dump money into the Cougar, I’ll hang on to her a little bit longer.

At the time I really wanted a 5, I was driving an RX8.

I one of those badges laying around here somewhere. I also have some ‘80s vintage Wolfsburg Edition badges, still in their original packages. There’s also a cool red and yellow Wolfsburg crest badge for a Beetle.

I have done some silly things on cars in the past. One was the Police Interceptor badge on the Windstar. The other was a custom, factory-looking ‘Vanagon GTI’ badge.

And I thought women were the ones that were supposed to have more appreciation for minivans - go figure.

My ex wanted me to get rid of my E34 525i 5MT since she couldn’t drive it and didn’t want to learn to drive stick. Sorry, no. I’ll be happy to do the driving, but I’m not parting with it...

It would be wrong to put it on anything other than a FoMoCo product. A Lincoln would be a good choice, perhaps a Blackwood. Or maybe a 3-cyl Fiesta.

I do that with my Camry too. After the nightmarishly unreliable Dart GT I had before it I am humbled to drive a car whose sole mission is to keep me comfortable and not leave me stranded. I really like the new Camry too, plus it has a 10" HUD.

You sound like me....I have a thing for cheap reliable cars. Even if I won the lottery, I’d still be driving my Accent, with some extra service to make it look more showroom. I happen to like my crappy Korean ecobox, thanks :)

Cool that they 5 came with a 6speed. I thought they were all 5speeds, or was that only the first gen?

Previous gen had the 5 speed, but the 2012-2015 (US) models had the 6th cog. I remember driving the 968, and for the first few months kept forgetting that I had a 6th gear. And one time in the 525i I recall looking down at the tach and noticing that I was turning over 4K RPM whilst cruising down the highway. That I6 was so smooth I didn’t realize I was still in 3rd! (Blame the open windows and loud stereo...)

As I’ve aged I appreciate cars that are simple, cheap and reliable. No more surprise $2,500 repair bills, no more hunting for a rental or keeping a second car so I’d still have something to drive when my primary vehicle was down. Never again.
