Seriously though, at any given moment in time I have like 5 Chrome tabs open on my phone looking at various airliners from the 1970s-1980s. Shame I’ll likely never be able to fly on any of them. The 727 is in very limited service, the TriStar is in what appears to be even more limited service, and the DC-10 graduated into MD-10s/MD-11s and are flying for Fedex and Orbis nowadays. *cries*

And the passenger 747 is on its last legs. It’s going to be all carbon fiber and twin-jets before too long. Don’t get me wrong, those are great planes. They just don’t have the charisma of the old birds.

I’ve only started flying a few months ago! So far just an A320, an A321, and a CRJ900. All cool planes in their own ways! Though, there’s just something about older jets (especially the tri-motors) that really get me excited!!! I don’t know what about them, the style? The history? Their outright gorgeous beauty? :D
I’m most impressed by the fact that the An-225 is still in service. I wonder how many years it has left?

A lot more, it would seem. China has entered into an agreement with Antonov to start building them in China. They have taken the uncompleted second airframe, and all the technical information on their construction has been transferred. So we should start seeing some of them in the not too distant future. Of course, why the Chinese would need such a huge global logistics aircraft warrants some attention, especially considering their goals in the South China Sea.
