(Not mine pictured) Poor thing. It was a fleet vehicle for a construction company before we bought it for cheap. When I checked the air filter there was what looked like charcoal briquettes in the bottom of the air filter housing. I’m surprised it had as few problems as it did.

Damn, you’re even older than I am. I thought I was one of the older Oppos at 40 (soon to be 41). I drove this same vehicle in high school, but I don’t have a picture (so off to Google I went)

Had me a 96 4 cylinder stick. Was not fun to drive but unkillable. Had to get rid of it when the window seal rotted out and it grew mold inside. Still ran tho.

My Mom insisted on it because my dad had an 80's one for over 20 years and it required nothing, but routine maintenance. It really is on par with Toyota reliability IMO

Ha - and yes, those mid-70's Cutlasses were EVERYWHERE back then. If you had one with RWL tires, rally wheels and T-tops, you were big time! I paid $1,850 for my ‘65. It was really well preserved, and ran like a champ. 310 HP had no trouble lighting up the skinny, crappy bias ply tires on the rear wheels...

I graduated in 1984, so we’re pretty close. I didn’t own my own car until I went to grad school in 1989. But in HS, I drove my dad’s ‘82 Rabbit. It was very similar to this one, but had black around the wheel wells. I loved that car. Drove the shit out of it.

I had one of those too. Mine was burgandy and it was so rusted out the passenger door didn’t have a handle but you could still open it thru the hole. Drove it one winter and gave it away to a buddy. It was still running when he took it to the junkyard a year and half later.

Happy birthday honey. My first car was a 79 Plymouth Duster Volare, bought in 86 for $500. I gave the car to my brother when the transmission started slipping and told him to sell it or scrap it...that was in 88. My next car and final automatic was an 84 cavalier that lasted 1 year. Well the cavalier was a manual, manual steering thanks to mid 80's GM quality.
