It looks like it will be a drag car you can buy at the dealer and drive on the street, which is all I think it was ever meant to be.
Going to come with plenty of concessions to be a factory hot rod, but still cool.
I’m waiting for the day when the NHRA says LOLNOPE and denies cars off the showroom floor due to the lack of proper safety equipment.

Out from the 120, around half was the rear seat.
But it seems that they are trying to lighten it without doing much. If they really tried, they could probably take really large amount of weight out from it.
The Super Stock Challenger weighed 3,588 pounds, but it still had pretty much complete interior (minus the back seat). This what they did to it:
“The body sealer, sound deadener and undercoat are eliminated along with windshield wipers, the HVAC system, airbag components, rear seats, power steering, exhaust, underbody heat shields, cross-car and side impact door beams, rear bumper beam, and rear deck lid spoiler. Unique components include a composite lift-off hood with functional scoop, Viper-style front seats, polycarbonate door windows, lightweight cooling module, manual rack and pinion steering, cable-operated deck lid release, lightweight front brake assembly, and cable-operated throttle linkage and pedal assembly.
The independent rear suspension was swapped out for a live rear axle design using a Dana 60 axle , which is better suited to drag racing; an A999 transmission with a manual valve body was used because the production five-speed automatic was too heavy”
Some of those could pose legality problems, but despite the hood, the rest of the body was still steel, so you could lighten a bit more.

Oh I believe it. The car weighs over 4000lbs. I’m sure 3 or 400 pounds could disappear quite easily. When I first heard 200lbs, I was disappointed. Then I heard that it was just from removing some seats. Huge lack of effort here.
