Eh if I had to have a hybrid I would rather have something like this with some more utility and space than a Prius. And that blue is nice. Gas is really cheap still though. What were we taking about?

I really can’t believe that this design made it to production, I mean it looks like a cartoon.

Kinja'd!!!

The front end is exaggerated, the middle is boring, and the rear is just okay.

marketing: at least it’s not a wagon or a minivan.

You must also be dozing off and having flashbacks of a previous thread. I know what that means, and I do not miss it.

I once spent weeks trying to get all of the necessary drivers and such (AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG.SYS) into a boot disk I called 603KBOOT (8 char. filename limitation) in order to get a functional system with the maximum amount of the base 640K of memory. Lots of trial and error, but it worked well for gaming. Too much work.

And having sat in one at NAIAS... it’s roomy as fuck. (And, it’s barely a crossover, more of a tall hatchback. And, really, not that tall.)

You’re asking that about the company that put the Soul into production?

The front end treatment, while following the same general theme, isn’t quite as bad as the Sportage.

As a normal person, I was super excited for this car. Kia/Hyundai levels of standard equipment with 50 MPG average and a crossover body while costing similar/less than a Prius. It just MAKES SENSE.

I like the Soul, the second generation anyway. The earlier ones are ugly.

Hey now, the second gen is probably the best cheap new car available today. It is easily the most practical new car for the money that is currently in production (it is the spiritual replacement for the Scion xB, but it’s even better in every possible way). It’s the top car model I recommend to people that they end up buying, in fact.

As a concept I think the Soul is great, just a little weird looking, but that’s purely subjective. Two things I don’t care for in automotive design are backwards sloping angles on windows and underbite front bumpers. I loved the original Scion xB and the element, and the Soul is a worthy successor to those vehicles.

That’s good to hear. I find that most CUVs and SUVs are bulky on the outside and relatively cramped on the inside, and more about posturing than anything else. Some that I’ve looked at lately had you climb up and then cross over a relatively high sill to get in, and this just seemed kind of pointless. I understand the desire to sit a little bit higher, but trying to give the impression that you’re the tough, outdoorsy type just means stupid compromises for the sake of image, and that goes against every logical thought in my head.
