As a public (government) institution that receives federal funding, Milo has 1st amendment rights as UNM is not a private institution (ever noticed why he generally doesn’t speak at Private institutions, like Dartmouth or Harvard) , they must let him speak otherwise they’re denying him his right.
Yes the university can say “we are not going to provide security for this”, shifting the burden of securing the event to its sponsors, but the university cannot say to Milo’s face “sorry, you can’t speak here”.
To Milo and his friends; the university not providing security IS NOT an abridgement of your 1st amendment rights. The university obliged your right to speak when they offered you their public forum.
Additionally, Milo is not a Neo-Nazi. Neo-Nazis hate him as does most of the “alt-Right” (How do I know this? I go on 4chan /pol/, the shit they say there makes Milo look like Bernie Sanders).

This piece of shit spoke down here last night. I signed a meaningless petition against it weeks ago despite misgivings about curtailing free speech, because free speech does not mean fucking white supremacist professional trolls deserve a mouthpiece to incite hatred in public, let alone at a publically funded school. Ideally they would be unable to speak at all from being punched in the face so much. There were protests, but nothing like tonight in Berkeley, and the local law came out heavy in advance.
The problem with Berkeley and so many other protests is the apparently now trendy anarchists who just come out to break shit, regardless of cause. That’s a slippery slope, and only feeds the machine against our freedom of speech and assembly, the one currently in office around the country.
If nothing else, the one thing we can gain from such events is knowing who the village assholes are.
