Saw this while browsing last night, a little light on details but appears to be a screaming deal. I’ve driven and been shopping for a C5Z for a while, but anyone have direct experience with both generations? How do they compare?

I think the biggest advantage of a C6 over a C5 is the larger bore blocks. 3.98 vs 4.0 or 4.125 (for the LS7) if you want to make real BIG power you are somewhat limited by the head choices for an LS1 or LS6

Absolutely. LS7 over LS6 all day, as long as the valvetrain has been gone through. Plus the Ls7 is dry sump.

Only problem is LS7 stuff is pricey when/if it breaks. I think for engine building, the 4 inch bore aluminum blocks are the best place to start. But when purchased in a car, the LS7 is king.

Yeah this would be my replacement “nice” car that I stupidly beat on track.
Looking at other options before I go and sink 5k (minimum) into aftermarket forced induction on the Scion and probably curb stomp its reliability. The c6z isn’t THAT heavy and has a great motor.

True. If it’s to be your nice car, the C6 interior isn’t terrible (at least in my memory), and is miles ahead of the C5. And if that doesn’t matter it would probably take all of five minutes to gut it and save some weight. However, you will need to put on fifty pounds yourself and only drink bud and coors from now on.

Probably closer to +100lbs just to fit the seats comfortably.
I am the exact opposite of 90% of corvette owners ( including my father who took me on the slowest drive I’d ever been in while sitting in a performance car in his new C7 during my last visit). I want and would utilize everything the car has to offer from a performance perspective... But good god I don’t want to be seen in one.
In fact my biggest hang up is not wanting to be a corvette owner or needing to answer the question “so what do you see drive”.

Don’t care what anyone else thinks. I so badly want to install an old jag v12 into any corvette. It won’t make up for all of the terrible engine swaps done to jags over the years but it’s a start and the looks on people’s faces would be priceless.
