Adding my wife to my policy after we got married resulted in a pretty big net savings for both of our cars. She lowers my risk factors, apparently.

G.I. Joe says: Don’t drive like a dicksack and you get lower premiums.

When I switched my insurance from Oregon to Washington, I saved $40 a month!

G.I. Ontario Insurance say: We don’t give a shit what you drive like, we’re still gonna hose you. ‘Course, if you give us the ammo we WILL hose you more...

Seriously, in 7 years of driving I have 1 ticket. It was 5 years ago. They look at the last 3 years. At the end of my last year I got $200/yr reduction (which I had to lose because I had to change my policy—added business use and more coverage due to the extra mileage).

We’ll ignore this year for now. Guess what my yearly premium was last year. 21-yo white male, Personal use only, 15000 annual km’s, 1000000 liability, no comprehesive/collision. Guess.

I renewed my insurance earlier in the month, and got my annual 5% discount because no accidents, but ICBC just raised rates so now I’m paying even more than I already was. Fuck you too ICBC.

You’re high, shockingly. $3500.

Either you know more about Ontario insurance rates than I thought or you aren’t as irritating (lucky) a person as I imagined.

No kidding. 5 years ago I was playing 85/month for 2 20-23 year old cars, just liability. Not we pay under 60/month for on 8 year old car, one 25 year old car and the newer one has full coverage.

Both my wife and I have been with Progressive for over 7 years and we both have clean records for the last 5. It’s awesome.

Being married probably lowered my rate about 20%. And they were right, I’ve driven a lot less like a teenage punk since I got married.

We had Allstate for three years up until last August. Our insurance (with homeowners discount) kept going up and up even though we never filed claims with either one.

I came to the conclusion they were passing the “we’re gonna hire celebrities to be in our commercials!” tax onto their customers, so I nopped right out of that situation and went with Progressive.

I also live 10 minutes from the Progressive HQ, so that helps.

Since I turned 25 (and got a decent reduction then), I’ve shopped around a lot every year and never found a lot of savings. I even bundled with my renter’s insurance but still didn’t save much.

Then I bought a house and bundled my insurance and my rate is MUCH cheaper. I guess they like home owners.

I got home insurance with the same company and even my mortgage went down a good bit. My parents have had the previous company since 1979. When they wanted to switch after seeing my savings, the company also went down to half of what they were paying. Insurance companies of all types are cold as ice!
