Kinja'd!!!

I’ve been living with my parents for 7 months after a break-up, but I’ve finally found and had my offer accepted on a perfect little stone built cottage in an amazing location!

Kinja'd!!!

It needs some work inside, but it’s structurally sound and has all of it’s original period features. The most important thing about it though is that it is reasonably priced for the area in which it sits - the beautiful but expensive little village of Wylam, where I grew up from the age of 8 to 18, and close to my storage yard from where I run my business.

Kinja'd!!!

There is also planning permission for an extension which turns it into a three bedroom property with en suite and utility room with downstairs washroom.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

I’m really excited about this house, and I’ve fought tooth and nail to get myself into a position to be able to afford somewhere like this, a stone built countryside cottage with a fire place in every room, and once it’s up to spec I will be living my dream - so cheers Oppo, I will be sinking a couple of cold ones tonight.

Kinja'd!!!

And if you don’t like houses, here’s a Mk VII Trans Am for your time.

Kinja'd!!!

Congrats. Whats Northumberland like? I’ve never been to the UK even though all my ancestors came from there even the German and French side lived there way back in the 1600s.

Marvelous. I fully expect you to go the full James May in your cottaging and begin growing germaniums and lathing bits of brass in the shed.

Sheep, mostly sheep. And some hills, Moors, a couple of fantastic driving road, and some more sheep. It’s very rural until you get to the Tyne Valley and closer to Tyne and Wear, but it’s very pretty in most parts and doesn’t experience much mad weather apart from rain, but then that’s Britain all over.

Congratulations! That house is beautiful. I wish we had houses like that out here in California.

My first thought was “Oh no! Dirt driveway so he can’t use a floor jack!”

My house-hunting priorities will begin with a paved driveway or garage with a lift!

I studied abroad in Lancaster for a semester. I wasn’t quite as far north as you are, but I recall it being a beautiful place. You’re still close enough for day trips to the Lake District, right? I loved touring around the Lake District.

Thanks man. Actually no. There’s a shed and two car parking spaces, but this was no major drawback because I have use of a barn at my storage yard, which is only 1 mile away, for wrenching and such.

There’s not a lot! But there’s space for two cars and there’s a small shed behind. I still have my barn though which is just a mile away.

Congrats on the house. That exterior pic with the driveway off to the right looks like it belongs on an album cover.

Btw, that carpet is very red. Wow. lol

Share the pictures as you do work around the place. I like seeing that stuff no matter where it is. I’m getting into a kitchen remodel project here in the states and figure I’ll post some shots when we get work underway.

That works, just make sure to keep your Defender hidden and put a kill switch on your Series.

Well both of them live up in the barn which is in a triple gated and CCTV’d farm yard, not much chance of them going missing. I tend to use the Skoda for daily duties nowadays. The Defender does WORK and the Series is still in bits :D

Very cool house, it has a ton of character. That red carpet though...I had that same color carpet in the house I bought last year *shudders*

The Lake District is about an hour and a half away West across Hartside Pass, my favourite driving road up here, so definitely close enough for a full day trip. I have a barn with a concrete floor about a mile away from here where I do my wrenching, so a garage would be a nice addition but not a priority.

It took a while to find one like this out here, people tend to keep them in the family usually. Luckily this one was ex-rental and the two sisters who own it kept it as their pension.

Yeh I fell in love with it years ago when driving past it so as quite surprised to see it pop up for sale last week. Not very big, I would estimate at 600sqm or 0.15 acres. A perfectly manageable garden size though.
