My stepdaughter decided she didn’t need what was in her tummy this morning and the school won’t let them stay for obvious reasons even though she feels better now.

So, unexpected off day since my wife just started a new job and my mother is finishing up expanding the flea market she runs.

So, AMA time. I am a dork when it comes to weather (amateur storm chaser), watches, hearses (yeah i know), and cars of course. Feel free to ask whatever is on your mind.

You think an E9X 328i could handle 30k highway miles per year?

1. Your ultimate hearse build money is not object.

2. Your obtainable hearse build.

Boxers or briefs?

Do you wipe sitting or standing?

Toilet paper over or under?

Loofa or lather?

If you look after it, then yes. I’ve had my car for a year and 4 months and have put a little over 30k on it. Granted that is highway and city miles, but aside from a couple of things I have been very satisfied with how it has ran so far.

If I get the job I want, which I just interviewed, I’m looking at living there or an hour away and it’d be a 60 mile drive each way, so it’d be like 30k/yr, but pretty much just highways. So I was thinking what car I’d get to do that, and an E9X 328i seemed like a good choice, much better driver than a cheap econobox and it’s an NA BMW straight 6, as long as you look after them, they’re pretty good.

1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor End-loader. Few were made and even less still exist. Finding a good example is going to set you back over $40k. If going this route I would want it showroom quality

Probably a 1960 Cadillac Superior. Close to a M-M but not quite as expensive. Since these are a little cheaper, maybe a mild custom and matte black paint.

Vanity plates, yes or no?

White castle for lunch or chipotle?

Ketchup on your fries or on the side?

Star wars or stark trek?

Hondabro or zoidberg?

If maintained (with you as owner, a given, of course), heck yes...our 1993 M50 I6 above, last month

PS E92Matt — please accept apologies for the threadjack :)

Wasn’t Ecto-1 a Cadillac Miller-Meteor End-loader?

Also, I approve of these choices.

Awesome. Good luck! I know you’ve been looking for a while. Yeah if you maintain it properly I don’t see any huge issues. I know eventually a high mileage BMW will have problems, but if you can find a low mileage example you could get some good years out of it.

I got that same day off on Monday. I spent the day doing laundry and fixing stuff around the house.

Favorite hearse?

I mean, I put about 3500 miles on my 128i in a month and it had 0 issues with that. I figured with regular maintenance it wouldn’t be bad to run a BMW for a lot of miles a year.

Well, I have one on the front of my car kinda so.... My actual tag is just a normal one though. If it’s witty, sure. If it’s not, eh.

Hard to say since I have never eaten at White Castle and only eaten at Chipotle once and wasn’t impressed. My choice would be Panera Bread.

On the side

The force is not with me

Why not both?

I’ve been looking for too damn long, I’m really hoping this is it. Thanks for the well wishes.

If you stay on top of maintenance, they seemed to fairly reliable. I guess we shall see, hopefully you’ll see a post asking what car I should buy with a disclaimer saying that I’m just getting another BMW anyways.

Indeed! Those can be close to $100k if it is exactly like the one in the movie.

Sweet. Most think I am weird, but my wife and I both have a love for old hearses. If I didn’t get a Caddy based one, I would want a 1937 Packard. The one below is at Canton Classic Car Museum in Ohio.

1959 Cadillac Miller Meteor, hands down. If I ever have the money to own one, that’s what my wife and I want.

No problem. I understand how it is. My stepdad was a safety guy working out in Texas before he got laid off a year ago. He worked offshore for 15 years.

Haha yeah. Hopefully you’ll find a good one. I drove 8 hours to buy mine. Maybe you won’t have to do the same.

Don’t get me wrong, I do think it is weird, but I like weird.

I bet that Packard would cost a pretty penny.

I was inspired to check CL for hearses and this popped up: http://maine.craigslist.org/atd/5918759463.html

Haha yeah fair enough.

Oh yeah. think only 3 of those still exist. The side panels are hand-carved mahogany.

Looks to be in good shape. The ad is pretty funny. Gotta love dark humor.

Amatuer storm chaser, eh? I took this photo back in 2013 in Anadarko, OK on the day that Moore, OK was hit by an EF5 tornado. This was of the storm that generated that tornado, as it formed over our job site.

Discuss.

Oh man. You were right in the middle of it.

On the ground for about 17 miles, over a mile wide, crossed over part of the path that the 1999 Bridge Creek-Moore Tornado took. Then 11 days later was the El Reno Tornado.

I remember following it on KOCO and KFOR online while watching the chasers on the stoem streaming sites I keep up with. Moore is just a target. I have the utmost respect for anybody living there.

I was at that job site for 4 months, all through Tornado season. It was the most awe-inspiring weather I have ever seen in my life. Tuesday would have a high of 85, then by Wednesday afternoon it would be below freezing and hailing.

I was pretty lucky to avoid getting hit that season, I spent many a night sleeping in the lobby of the Hotel during tornado warnings.

Damn that’s crazy. Yeah March through June up there can be rough. It’s like that down here in MS for us, but we get them in the winter months as well. We just had an EF-3 pass about a mile from our house weekend before last.

Still pretty dang good location. We enjoyed our time living in south GA, all that time I never needed anything heavier than a light jacket. Here’s hoping everything goes exactly how you want it to

I’m on a job site in west central MS, several hours drive from civilization. I’m just overseeing an engineering project for a while, I actually live in Texas.

Yeah I figured not from here. If west central then I assume north of Vicksburg in the delta? That’s all pretty much a bunch of nothing.
