Kinja'd!!!

I am due for a new company phone this winter. My S6 is long in the tooth and ready to be replaced before it breaks a second time. The candidates are:

LG G5

Pixel

HTC 10

LG V20

Moto Z Force

What say you, oppo? Any input would be appreciated. Basically just needs to be better than my old S6.

Pixel. Mine is the best phone I have ever used.

I have a G5. It’s ok, but the battery life isn’t anything special. I haven’t had any issues with the phone itself, though.

I have an S6 but I’m holding out for the S8. Sorry to hear that yours has broken, out of your choices, I would pick the pixel.

I have a G5. My camera broke on it in the fall, and apparently, a lot of other people are having that same issue; the video I posted of it back when it had the issue has over 1,000 views and a good amount of comments saying their cameras are messed up. Snapchat also looks like crap, but otherwise, I’ve liked it.

I wanted an HTC 10, but it came out right after I got the G5. My parents already waited an extra month after my old contract was due; I didn’t wanna wait any longer.

My last three phones have been Motorolas and I love them. I’ve had the Moto X and am currently on the Moto G. Isn’t the Z, like, crazy expensive? Still, that would be my pick.

Being a fan of pure Android with no extraneous crap layered on it, I’m a Pixel owner. The only real negative I have is the very slick back compared with my old Moto X which had a rubbery finish on it. Otherwise it’s a champ.

Pixel (preferrably XL) or the 10. The former if you want the best version of Android, the latter if you want build quality (but since its HTC, check reviews). Avoid the G5 because the modularity implementation is stupid and fragile.

Avoid the LG, overpriced and history of questionable build quality. Unless you really need that removable battery. I can’t think of any benefits of the HTC over a pixel. The pixel is the safe bet, but the Moto is a great phone. Very durable with some unique features to set it apart, mainly moto display and moto mods. Can’t go wrong with either phone.

The Z is stupid expensive, but for those on Verizon doing payments plans, they often have decent deals.

The galaxy s7 is spectacular, and good battery life and because its been out for a while the bugs are all pretty much gone. And the note 5 is good as well, thats what I use! Note 5 good battery gorgeous screen, good size, spen and overall good phone.

As a huge Windows Phone fan and current, incredibly begrudgingly, iPhone user go with the Pixel.

Android ONLY works when it’s stock and on hardware designed for that version of the OS. Since it’s a Google phone you should get updates faster as well.

Also never buy a phone through your carrier. Even if there is zero interest on that ‘loan’.

My last 4 phones in the household have been Motorola...I’ll not have another. Not happy with the products and customer service under Lenovo’s watch is awful.

I’d choose the Pixel, my wife’s will be here in the next few days. HTC would be my second choice on this list as I’ve had good luck with their phones. 3rd would be the LG offerings. I’ve had terrible luck with Samsung...so much so I’d go Moto over them.

I talked with Google guy at Best Buy Saturday when we were looking at the Pixel and his sentiments aligned with mine. He was a true phone geek and previously worked for Samsung for 3 years. He carried 2 phones, a Pixel XL and the HTC.

I’d add Huawei to the list. I liked the Honor 8 and the Mate 9 I handled while there. I bought my wife a Huawei watch for her birthday mid December and I was impressed with it’s initial quality. She speaks highly of it, she was using my Moto 360 until it died because I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. She uses it quite a bit being a makeup artist and and a heavy phone user. If the Huawei were listed I’d choose them second after the Pixel out of pure curiosity and based on reviews I’ve read.

Of your choices, I’d go with Pixel.

I had a Nexus 5 and a stock Android system is excellent to use. I use the S7 Edge now, but running the stock android look - it feels just like the great OS i used on the Nexus.

STAY AWAY FROM THE LG G5!

Not unless you like a phone that overheats in even the thinnest of cases and can be slowed to a speed of 5 seconds a character while typing just by leaving your contacts open in the background.

Pixel, no question - fantastic camera, great performance, battery life is no issue and most importantly, the OS hasn’t been fucked with by the manufacturer and it stays up to date. That’s all important with Android. After owning a few android phones, I don’t think I’d ever buy another non google (Nexus, now Pixel) android phone.

The Huawei skin on Android annoys the ever loving fuck out of me.

I have a P8 lite I made the mistake of buying before I settled on my iPhone. I would use the P8 if I could get stock Android on it. As it is, the skin Huawei use is awful and I despise using it.

Honestly, I find my S7 pretty mediocre and would have switched back to my ancient HTC One (M7) if I didn’t have the purple camera issue. The wireless charging is nicer than I would have expected, and I like that it has waterproofing, but the S7 feels cheap and flimsy, battery life is bad, performance feels worse than the HTC, with frequent stuttering (not sure how they managed that, given the much more powerful hardware specs, but they did), and Samsung’s software seems much more invasive than HTCs.

It’s not on his list, and I think he was smart to leave it off.

I’ve got a Moto Z and have been very happy with it. Got it during a crazy black Friday best buy deal so I paid $120 for it with two mods included. I really like Motorola’s UI, the screen notifications are great, nougat is nice, it’s pretty bloat free, good enough camera...

Really wanted a Pixel but can’t do a 5" screen, it’s XL or bust.

that’s my main concern with Huawei phones. I only have the few minutes experience with it from a few days ago. Reviews are a mixed bag but in my short experience it still bested Samsung’s Touchwiz which I despised (along with their plentiful hardware issues). I’m a huge fan of stock Android, and feel if mfrs. would keep it that way the Android experience would be better for those coming from iOS...especially for the cheaper phones. Stock Android is stable, easy and still bests iOS with customization.

is the P8 lite the same as the Honor 8? I almost bit on an Honor 5 (iirc) but it had no AT&T 4G LTE compatibility. Settled on a Nextbit Robin as I needed something on the cheap to hold me over when my Moto X 2014 shit the bed and it’s basically stock Android. I don’t use the cloud backup feature since 32gb is plenty for me and it’s been a better phone so far than the Moto other than missing the off screen notifications (Amoled screen needed) and it’s a bit chunky with very few case options. The Nextbit apparently suffers battery life when using the marketed cloud backup feature but without it I’m getting a full day on a charge.

My vote goes to the ass HTC. I’ve had one for two years and it’s been awesome. I always had Motorolas before that and they were problematic beyond the first 6-12 months. Every android update screwed then even more (ice cream sandwich to kit kat to jelly bean, etc.) because the hardware wasn’t made to handle that software. With my HTC that has never been an issue. My battery life is phenomenal. I have two complaints: auto correct is terrible and is the stuff memes are made from, and also emoji animations are ridiculously outdated. That’s it.

My girlfriend has a Pixel and loves it. It’s built by HTC, too, which is nice since they also make really solid phones. The HTC 10 is likely a solid bet as well, but I have no first or secondhand experience with it.

Everything made by LG that anyone I know has is broken in some way. Phones, dishwasher, washer and dryer....except my computer monitor. They managed to not fuck that up, it’s actually really nice. One of the broken phones was a friend who had his LG idontknowwhat catch fire randomly in his bed while he was asleep. That put me off LG phones...

Anyways.

Pixel.

If you plan on listening to HQ audio with very good headphones, get the V20.

Your company allows some pretty cool models. My company choices are S7, S7 Edge, and some iPhones (can’t recall which exact models). And currently the Samsungs are not available because of an issue with one of the corporate security apps that get installed...

I could technically bring my own device, but then if there are issues, I get no support.
