Empathy is uniting. The divide between people who love Trump or hate Trump is huge right now. Yes, I’m following some people I know on Twitter that are pro-BLM, pro-Women’s March, anti-Trump, and I’m not unfollowing them. Why? Because I know them outside of the Internet world, and I respect them as people. While I jokingly mock some of my friends for not liking Trump, they are still my friends; it may be a bit bothersome when they post anti-Trump stuff, but I still like them as people.
Abandoning relationships with people just because they support Trump is just dividing this country even more.

Every single person I’ve had an intelligent discussion with pertaining to this election has had a logical and intelligent argument. I’ve got a lot of friends who loved Hillary Clinton and hate Trump. Yet, I can still have a fact-based intelligent political argument with them without name calling, general ignorance and shaming based on political views. Except here.
I don’t support Trump considering some of his actions, but I also don’t support idiocy.

How he treated goldstar families, his scam through his university, targetting people who were already poor as fuck, scaming them by selling them hope, the fact that he openly advocated for a muslim ban on US soil, how he used 250.000$ from his own charitable fund to buy painting of himself and care for his personal expenses, how he pretended not to know who this David Duke-guy supporting him was, how he mocked the handicapped reporter like an asshole, advocating torture while having a total disrespect to John McCain who is actually one of the only republican deserving of honor and knows first hand what being tortured is, how he supports conspiracy theories numbnuts people like Alex Jones, the fact that he stiffed dozens of private contrators who worked for him, how he refuses to release his tax returns because he knowns it would be a massive scandal as he is a master and evading taxes, thanks to his army of accountants he pays just for that, how he had no problem hiring undocumented labord for his constructions but now acts like these undocumented people willing to do anything for a bit of work are actually cause of problems in the US, not the rich assholes who exploit them to save a few bucks, or maybe his constant misogyny, considering breastfeeding mothers to be disgusting, calling other women cunt and being generally uneducated with a total lack of self-control?
Notice I haven’t even started with what he did last week and the policies he signed yet? I didn’t even bother mentioning the pussy thing either...
So yes, I cannot hang out or be friend with people who pretend to be republicans because of their family or religious values and at the same time, vote and support a guy like that. Same goes for those who voted for him because “she was just just as bad anyway”.

I consider racism and bigotry to be intolerable. Same goes for misogyny and blatantly ignoring racism/bigotry/misogyny for the sole purpose of personal material enrichment (ie: someone votes for Trump, ignoring his racism and bigotry because he thinks that with him roads will be nicer and his tax burdain smaller).

The US is not exactly a democracy per se, it’s a constitutional republic where land itself and the geolocalisation of a vote determines its value. It’s the only country in the world that fonctionnates as such and this is why it is mathematically possible, with this method to have someone win an election with only 20% of the vote when the other candidate gets 80%.
This is what people complain about. This is also a system that NEVER worked in favor of the democratic party and cannot work in its favor based on the way it is. With small states leaning republican in majority, this makes the democratic party at a disadvantage during each election. Be it in 2000 or 2016.
