!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

What are you guys thoughts I’d love to hear them! Everyone has been trying to decipher the license plate from last week’s teaser video. Car and driver breaks down their explanation of what it may mean stating:

“As for the cryptic license plate, we think the 2576 figure is a reference to the maximum torque of the engine (multiplied through the gearbox and final drive and then split among four wheels). This is merely a guess, but it makes some sense, given the Hellcat’s larger, 4010 lb-ft number for each of its two driven wheels. If our supposition is true, and the Demon uses the same final-drive and first-gear ratios as an automatic-transmission Hellcat, this engine will make about 705 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm. That would be a roughly 10 percent gain over the Hellcat’s torque output, which would equate to peak horsepower flirting with 800.” http://blog.caranddriver.com/heres-our-wild-ass-speculation-about-how-much-horsepower-and-torque-we-think-the-dodge-challenger-demon-will-make/

What is your guys take? Discuss!!!

I’m guessing not as C&D just reviewed the AWD challenger and stated that AWD is only offered with the 6 cyl.

If it has that huge drag radial tire on the front it has to be AWD.

No other explanation makes sense but it is FCA so doubt does creep into my assumptions.

My take? No.

Check that:

FUCK NO.

There is no way Dodge has an AWD system that will take this level of abuse:

Power level + Very heavy car + Sticky tires (supposedly factory d/rs) + Non supercar MSRP + People driving them HARD =

I’m torn on this because it would be so ridiculously stupid for it two have a square set of drag radials on all four corners if its not AWD.

On the other hand, even if it only makes the same amount of power as the Hellcat, how the hell did they make a drivetrain to handle the torque and still manage to shed 200 lbs from the thing?

If it is AWD, the only way it will be enabled is if you use the “super secret valet mode” that limits engine power to #musclecoupe levels of 300bhp.

Well there is the grand cherokee SRT8, that does alright with 470. It might be a challenge to make the components fit, but then again, maybe not.

Its not really a matter of “an AWD system that will take this level of abuse”.

RAM
JEEP
SRT-8 Jeep

They have plenty of experience with driving 4 wheels under absue. Whether they decide to spend the money on this project is the question. Why put a square setup drag radials on the front of a car is what is raising suspicion.

I bet its AWD.

Probably going to be gutted pretty heavily (stereo, interior, possibly AC)

Also use of CF. Similar approach to the Viper ACR Extreme. It’ll be a purpose built car except for the strip instead of road course.

475hp/470 lb-ft vs 700+hp/700 lb-ft

Big power difference.

That’s my thought too. The huge tires in the front are a big part of it.

thats true, but I don’t think its outside the realm of possibilities. if its a single speed system the only real limit is on the lay shaft for the front output.

Well, Jeep is supposedly developing a Grand Cherokee Trackhawk with the Hellcat motor, if their CEO is to be believed .

The Grand Cherokee and the Challenger use similar transmissions, although the awd system in the Challenger GT and awd versions of the Charger & 300 is not quite the same as the GC.

That said, it wouldn’t necessarily be that difficult to adapt the Trackhawk drivetrain into a Charger.

It’s gotta be AWD, it only makes sense with those gigantic tires at all four corners. I’m also guessing at least 800 hp. At least that much.

I get your point, but I am still very skeptical about their AWD system holding repeated hard launches in a heavy vehicle @ 700+ lb-ft on sticky tires regardless of chassis.

The Jeep isn’t running 315 section drag radials at all four corners, either.

The answer is NEITHER. I believe it will not be AWD, but rather 4x4. Hear me out. We just learned that part of the weight reduction comes from this car being a 1 seater, that’s now a confirmed fact. Well, go look at the second teaser video called “Reduction”. Get quick with the space bar to pause each blinking item being removed. You will see the passenger seat and rear seats blink and disappear, along with the carpet, the wheels, the calipers, the sound insulation, and ..... the entire front suspension. It completely disappears, including the steering knuckles and lower brace. The front end can’t be lightened, but it can be removed. I believe a future teaser will show what goes back in. And when you look a teaser number 3, you see a RWD burnout, which can mean it’s a decoupling system like in the Jeeps. This may truely be a 4x4 that can function as a 4x2 when a burnout is called.

Hmm what about the teaser that was released today showing “skinnys” in the supplied toolbox. This throws a wrench into things!
