Hmmm. It’s been for sale on and off, which could be concerning. But euro is nice, it makes up for the late model interior that I’m really not a fan of. Also, fog lights in the bumper.

Cramming a Porsche in your shed is a good thing. Aftermarket wheels are the “Hell No”. How long has that rear deep dish been on there? I do like that color tho.

I don’t mind the wheels, but I’d much rather some of these phone dials

Kinja'd!!!

I’ve never seen one in that colour around here, I like it too

I imagine the person that put the deep dish wheels on didn’t change the suspension geometry. Ze Germans know vhat zey are doing. The owners sometimes don’t.

Honest question: do you actually prefer the early interior to the late one? I cannot stand the yellow on black guages of the early cars, and the ‘86-up interior is of much higher quality. I think that euro front fascia with the fogs is my favorite though.

I’ve sat in both, so I can definitely agree about the quality. I just feel like the early interior suits the design better, especially without the S2 bodywork. I think the late interior works much better with S2s

The early steering wheel I especially prefer

Likely not, so I guess it could have more worn bushings and such

Possibly. It is pretty tho.

Although I prefer the early interior, the electrical system on the early cars is a nightmare. All those frail, small wires & ceramic fuses. Terrible. It’s the main reason my 944 isn’t on the road right now. The wiring harness for the headlight/headlight motor system melted and decided to try and burn the car down.

Also, the suspension system on the early cars is way better. It has stamped steel control arms with removable ball joint, as opposed to all the cast aluminum suspension components of the late cars.

Oh geez, alright these are good things to know....I can wrench but I’m useless with electrical, so I guess the late cars are indeed the way to go

And not too much money

No contest, the early wheel is best.

Fair enough. The S2 is the one to have, in my opinion. The early dash and instruments just feel a little too much like it’s a sporty Super Beetle. I mean, they get the job done, but the plastic is crap and I think the late guages are much better.

I should probably switch to the OPPO side of this argument. Buy It!

It’s a purple euro-spec Porsche on Borbet Type As. How could you not at least check it out?

Because I know I’d buy it and that’s a terrible, terrible idea when I have no job.

It’s still for sale....

Have you considered mortgaging a kidney?

Oh I can afford it. I just can’t justify it until I have income again. I have a line on a really good job so if that turns out this coming week, maybe I’ll grab me a Porsche....

I’ll be in town on the 29th and 30th of March if you need any help with inspection (or maintenance if you decide to procure it by then).

Sounds good. I’ll be attending the auto show on the Thursday and initially planned on hopping the train and going to Hot Topic on the Friday morning, but that still leaves most of the Friday afternoon free (until I have to hop on a plane). If there’s anything you want to check out sort-of near Burnaby on the Friday, I can even try and meet you somewhere near there as the Hot Topic I’m going to is in Metropolis at Metro Town.
