We may not agree about many things: politics, cars, cats vs dogs. But that doesn’t mean we should stop respecting others.
More than a few of us got too far caught up in political posts and have said very disrespectful things to each other. Politics does not give a free pass to be rude and demeaning to others.
I don’t care if you post political stuff. But the moment you start insulting others, whether you be Democrat, Republican, or neither, that is the moment I care. Especially when you insult my friends, like Racin’Jason . So with here’s my final thought:

I agree with you, and will add that telling people what they should and shouldn’t post, like your buddy did, is decidedly un-excellent. Some of the things happening are personally affecting members of oppo. If you want to ignore stuff, then ignore it, but don’t tell people what’s okay to post.

I agree, no politics is too strong. This is an off topic forum and politics are a allowed. However there were many people who were being rude and disrespectful towards a fellow member, and that is unacceptable.

many people in real life are being rude and disrespectful to other members... but it’s bad and rude and disrespectfull that we should discuss that? It’s fine to have oppinions about cars, but just remember, a person can have an oppinion about a car and be deeply, personally, and tragically effected by what is going on in US politics these days, and if you are ignoring or belittleing that and saying that “it’s not really a problem” and “i’m sure it all be fine” it’s becuase you are at best complicit and uncaring by dint of your privelige and at worst, one of those disrespecing said members off forum, in REAL life. and *THAT* is unacceptable.

You’re 100% right. Part of what is great about this country is that we are free to have differing viewpoints on things and express those viewpoints. I love hearing a well thought out factual argument in opposition to what I believe because I know I’m not right about everything and I like seeing things from other people’s perspectives. If I’m wrong and someone uses facts to prove me wrong, I’m grateful because they’ve made me smarter and wiser.
The problem is that if we can’t even agree on what is real and what is bullshit, this kind of discourse can’t happen.
